Powissett Peak, Red, 6.4 km, 200 m, 13th. Wasn't planning on going orienteering because I thought the forecast was for rain, and that's not my favorite thing to do. But morning arrived and the sky was blue and orienteering when it's not raining might actually be my thing to do, so I said to Nancy, "Let's go!". Lost about 30 seconds on #1 because I heard my name and saw Cristina, so I detoured over to the playground to say hi to Lukas. Pretty straightforward navigation, a few screwups like on #9 where I blew my route -- I had intended to stay left on the flatter route, but I drifted right, and then didn't see the control right away when I got to the circle (it was behind me). Maybe a few other suboptimal routes. But a pretty pathetic showing in any event, not moving very fast. It actually got overcast and windy and cooler by the time we started, and we finished just before the rain started. Unusual use of 1:15000 maps for a local meet, though it was more readable than I expected. Also surprising was that all that paper that was saved by using a small scale seems to have gone toward proving space for among the largest cluesheets I've ever seen, with 8.5 mm boxes.
