White Clay Creek - Carpenter (DE) DVOA A-meet, Blue, 9.9 km, 365m. Met my objective of not being last (beating David Onkst and a guy I don't know), but I had an appalling 10+ minutes of errors. Ignoring the things that I thought were too small to really count as errors, there was:
#5, came in without a solid attack, was pretty close but didn't see it (GPS shows me passing within 5m on my initial attack), and wandered around for about four minutes,
#14, failed to find the indistinct trails shown on the map, failed to read my compass, and ended off on a trail but too far to the left, and had to bash through green to get to the control,
#15, asleep at the switch, went too far up the stream before crossing and had to turn around when I was approaching a back yard, and
#18, where I simply overran the control by about the diameter of the control circle; I could swear I looked behind that rootstock, but not closely enough.
The evidence is that I'm pretty rusty. I paced myself pretty well, but paying attention should have easily put me under 1:45. Nancy also succeeded in beating two people (Eric Smith and a cadet), and finished before I did, which was excellent.
