Snow dealings, round 2a: my driveway. Staying at Nancy's this weekend, but six inches of pretty light snow fell in the morning, and it's supposed to be warm rain tomorrow, so I figured I'd better set it up to hopefully melt down to bare pavement instead of turning into glop. I got a little ambitious with the snowblower and did the mailbox and partially dug out the spare car, spent just under a half hour.

Felt bad that I'm not well enough to help with the shoveling at Nancy's, but Stephen got home last night, so she's not on her own.

Appointment with my doc this morning, he had chatted with the folks from UMass Memorial and got the story, I guess the tick tests all came back negative, but he needed to do some blood work so he's redoing those as well just in case. Basically, nobody has any good explanation for my ailment. My doc did think to ask about wild mushrooms, which I was suprised that nobody at the hospital did, because I think it's a good match for my symptoms. But I don't like mushrooms, and I avoid them. At Thanksgiving, the stuffing that my cousin made had local mushrooms (grown, not gathered as far as I know), but everybody ate the stuffing and I was the only one who picked out the mushrooms and left them on my plate.

I guess at this point I should stop checking the "sick" box, even though I still have two more days of doxycycline to go (not that we have any indication that I have anything that would be helped by that).

Not so great in the morning, better later on. Thought about a walk, but decided I didn't need to subject myself to the frigid blast (wind chill is below zero right now). The actual temperature is supposed to be hovering around zero when I go to my doctor's appointment in the morning.

A little stronger every day. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel up to going for a short walk.

Back to work today. I have a very non-strenuous desk job, but there is a little bit of walking between my cubicle and the parking lot/cafeteria/bathroom/meetings. So, more walking than I'd done in the past two weeks.

Snow dealings, round 1a: my driveway. When I got home last night I made sure that I had gas, and overnight we got about 4" of show topped by a bit of rain. I went out early afternoon and initially tried pull-starting the snowblower, but after enough wimpy tries on the rope start, I got an extension cord and used the electric (first start of the season always takes a lot because the fuel lines have gone dry). Once it was running, clearing the driveway was quite easy, about 15 minutes.

I've been having a lot of vivid dreams the past few nights. Last night in particular, there was a complicated one in which Don Davis was going to be hosting a new TV show called The Paint. It wasn't clear at all what it was going to be about, but I somehow got roped in, and it was going to involve having a haiku tattooed onto my nose, with the same haiku somehow imprinted onto the beak of a bald eagle. I was trying to come up with the shortest possible haiku that would meet the syllable requirements.

Second day at Ratlum, including a walk out to the barn and back to watch the plow being installed on the truck, then in the evening Nancy came to retrieve me and deposit me at home, for my first night in my own bed in a very long time.
