Just ahead of The Dim, CW. Pretty respectable effort. Somebody appears to have moved the big fallen tree halfway around. Lots of mushrooms out there.

My friend Pace from college has started bicycling (which he finds surprising), and as he and his wife were going out to a concert in western MA last night, he decided that he'd like to try and ride home to Cambridge. So Wendy dropped him off in Palmer this morning, and the first leg was from there to my house. I got a lift from Nancy out to Tanner-Hiller airport where I met Pace and rode with him the rest of the way. This was the first leg, before lunch. The routing that had been suggested to him by RideWithGPS looked a little suspect to me, since it actually went out onto the airfield and then up something that I wasn't sure was actually a road. I figured we'd bypass the whole thing (very easy to do), but he was interested in trying it. I know this airfield, because it's where I hang glide, so I knew it wasn't really going to a problem when we were riding up the runway. But as I suspected, the "road" was a jeep trail, something I wouldn't try to take my car on. I was managing okay even on my skinny tires (Pace was on a gravel bike), even through the puddles, but when I went through one that was deep enough that my feet got wet, I decided to portage around the even bigger one that followed (though Pace rode on through). After that there was some loose sand that was challenging, but it never quite sank to the level of multisport adventure.

And after lunch, the rest of the way to my house, where Pace will be spending the night before continuing on home tomorrow.
