Huntington, HVO/WCOC Winter Series, Red, 6.0 km. Warm day for this time of year, pushing 70F, very nice to be out in short sleeves. A little confusion near the end on controls #2, #10, and #12, but the rest went fine. Not moving all that fast, though, definitely getting old. Or just out of shape. Folded my right ankle over twice (ow), and my left one once (meh).

WBSW, In The Dim. Spikes were the right call, there was still quite a bit of ice, but I think it will be scarce by sometime this weekend. Not necessarily an improvement, because much of it will be replaced by standing water or mud. The twisties seemed to go by very quickly, despite the fact that I felt cold and tired early on. As the light faded, progress seemed to slow. I had originally intended to go further, but this was enough for tonight. Brought a small flashlight and only turned it on twice, looking for stream crossings, and got wet feet both times, the first because I fell off the log, and the second because I went through some ice on the streambank.

Midstate Trail, Rte. 9 to E Charlton Rd. I guess I didn't do any new sections of this in the last year and a half (though I did redo one section last summer with Nancy). A bit more snow and ice left than I had guessed, so spikes would have been a reasonable idea, but I managed, just slowed down in places out of caution (not that I was really pushing that hard anyway). One section of about a half-mile has apparently been rerouted. Mid-50s, and sunny before and after but overcast while I was out there. Long pants and a light jacket, which was fine. When I did the section just north of this in Sept 17, I noted that the last section getting to the road was hopelessly overgrown. Now it's all been cleared, apparently for some purpose of the adjacent business.

pedaling (pavement) 21:02 [2] 6.87 km (3:04 / km)

And back to the car on the Schwinn, which I had stashed before I started (no brakes, no helmet, no problem). I don't know what happened here, because I could swear I remember stopping the watch and saving the run when I got back to the car, but the track continues for the whole drive home and then some. (AP guessed this to be orienteering, which is pretty comical.)
