pedaling (recumbent) 10:00 [1] 2.1 mi (4:46 / mi)

Around the block, time estimated. Don't know how long it's been, something on the order of 15-20 years. Still some details to iron out, but nothing essential fell off.

Course setting at Gunstock, got maybe 70% done, unless I decide on some major revisions to the course designs (entirely possible). I managed to forget my compass (left it in the pocket of my other pants), but when Nancy dropped me off, she reminded me that I have a compass app on my phone, and I used it a few times. Walking around, not too strenuous, but it was still a decent amount of time and distance. Three sounds of note: 1) I flushed a turkey that made quite a racket as it flew up to a treetop roost, 2) there was a weird whining sound that I'd hear intermittently, sounded like... I don't know, a small jet taking off? Later on, I was in a position where it was obvious, as people ziplined overhead. And 3), if I lived in Laconia, I can guarandamntee what week I'd choose to go on vacation every year. Supposedly deep in the woods, all I could hear was potatopotatopotato.

A few FDFs, not a big deal. Quite a few mosquitoes, I found myself seeking out sunny spots with a breeze to get some respite, but they were pretty dense around some of the control locations. I had applied some repellent, so I didn't get bled dry, but there was a lot of swatting going on. And although I didn't realize it until later, there were

So. Many. Ticks.

I remember finding one when I was out there, and... maybe a couple more when I stopped at the ski lodge at the end for a sandwich while waiting for Nancy to comme back from hiking Mt. Major and meeting her kids for Nicole's birthday lunch. But then for like the next 36 hours, they kept popping up (she texted me Monday morning to say she had found another). Almost all still moving, none with a good hold, and all the larger wood ticks, but still irritating and annoying.
