Ahern, Middle, 4.0 km, 115m, 6th. Feeling slightly afflicted, and therefore doing this basically at a jog. Lost a couple of minutes at the trivial #1, standing on the peninsula and totally failing to see the boulder. Clumsy execution on a few others, never lost for very long, but it adds up. Stephen had a pretty good run, his first time competing against me, and he got me on a few splits.

My, what straight lines. After another enhancement to the seat, I took it out for a try at some hills. The bike worked fine, with the only oops being when I waited too long to shift down at the bottom of the hill on Howard St., and got stuck in top gear -- had to hop off and push it past the steepest bit before starting again. With the rider being heavier and less resilient than he used to be, and the 36 year old webbing as well, I'm considering a little bit of foam padding on the seat.

So that's about six miles in a half hour. It's 20 miles to work. That means that at this pace, I'd need 100 minutes. I'm planning to allow at least 105, and closer to 120 if I can wake up early enough.

From Ayer to Groton on the bike path to meet Nancy to watch the sunset. Made a couple of enhancements to the bike first, and those helped. A coworker made a part for me last night on his 3D printer, and that took the sloppiness out of the seat mount. Afterwards Nancy drove me back Ayer to get my car, because it was pretty dark by the time we'd had ice cream. I can barely fit this thing in my car, and if I do I can't take any passengers. Need to set up a roof mount or something. Or only ride it from home.

Around the block, time estimated. Don't know how long it's been, something on the order of 15-20 years. Still some details to iron out, but nothing essential fell off.
