An indirect trip to Seeleyto pick up my car. Daniel Drive is tricky to find even when you know where it is!

From Seeley to the post office to home, In The Dark. The temperature had come down at least 25 degrees from what it had been earlier in the day, but the dewpoint was just a smidge lower than the temperature.

I forgot to mention the interesting incident that happened near the beginning of my ride yesterday. I was on Rte. 2A, with a pretty good light on my helmet and a pretty good red blinky on the back of it. I got passed by a police car, and was glad that I had those lights so that I didn't look like some nutcase trying to get run over. Not too long after that I got passed by a couple of loud motorcycles, going fairly fast, and the second one really gunned it as he went by me; a more skittish rider may well have fallen off with a loud engine like that so close. And as they pulled ahead and were almost out of sight, I saw blue lights: the cruiser had pulled into the trailer park and was ready when they roared by. I didn't mind seeing that part at all.

Shirley and Townsend, In The Dark. The plan was to pick up the remaining streets that I had in these two towns, to complete them on CityStrides. In Shirley I got the foreboding Town Meeting Road, but I didn't go far enough down the elusive Daniel Drive (in the dark, it looked like the point where the Keep Out signs were was just a driveway, but I can see in the aerials that there are four more houses at that point). I also would have still been missing the southern part of Wilde until the next update from OSM in early July.

Then in Townsend, I picked up the hillbilly section (John Birch/Victory/American/Christian), an area of dirt roads with streets signs that are scrawled on old pieces of wood and people put up signs in their yards saying "No Trespassing - Violators will be shot - Survivors will be shot again". That went fine, and I should have just headed home at the point. But I decided to go with my plan and head over to (private) Dann Colburn Way (rod and gun club) from the back. I used to go through there in high school as a short cut if I decided to walk home after missing the bus if I didn't want to wait for the late bus. I guess I missed a turn, and ended up in a maze of skidder tracks, eventually had to pull out my phone and look at the compass app, and eventually succeeded in getting to the big log landing (no logs there now) and out to Emery Road. At that point I was fed up with being off road and considered abandoning my plan to take the short cut home through Hickory Woods, but I decided to toughen up and do it. I was tired and uncoordinated and my tires were at road pressure, and I think that shortcut saved me neither any time nor any effort.

OK, CityStrides processed this, and now Townsend is complete and Shirley is at 98.4%. I'll have to go back and get the rest of Daniel at some point.

Willard Brook, dealing with a few issues Tori found while vetting yesterday, and adding a couple of possible alternate control locations. Warm day (low 90s F), but not too bad in the woods. I don't know why the mosquitoes are not bad at all down by the marshes, but are plentiful up on the dry, breezy hillsides.
