Col de Braus and Col du Turini from L’Escarene
Dropped off my folks in nice early doors so there was a window for a proper ride starting just up the valley. Glad I skipped the drag out of nice as it looked no fun, also was still v dark at 7.
Really enjoyed the pair of serious climbs. About 600m up to Braus and then 1,250m up to Turini. Neither of them has many uber steep sections but the Turini in particular is long, about 24km constant uphill in total though there is a short false flat about a third of the way through to break it up.
Didn’t get too ambitious with the pacing which was a good job as the last few km up to the Turini were a slog. Bit of a pity the descent was covered with gravel for long stretches and a repair team took out a couple of hundred metres of road so it wasn’t quite as much fun as it could have been. But overall - spectacular, and some of the views were pretty special even with the low cloud.
