TOB race. blahhh... Hopefully, that will be the most frustrating swim of my life and its behind me now. Glad my mate is a champ and put up with me.

Started off good and for the first time was swimming in a pack. Not just drafting but front/back/side2side front pack swimming. Cool!! Relaxed and focused on form for the first ~40min

Got my goggles knocked off after about the 5th B and stopped to fix...got Vaseline all over them then swam to Monique to get fuel - Mistake - Should have done one or the other - Lost the pack. Good thing. Monique reminded me that this is practice and I got my pack swimming practice done - Time to swim alone.

Next 12 minutes (felt like hours!) I started swimming HARD like I was back in the Russian river at Vineman. Not making ground on the pack and digging a deep pain cave. Jacking w/ goggles and got worse and worse. Pulled back and got back into my pace

swim, swim, swim . . .

Last mile or so sucked! No sight with goggles now completely f'd up and I could not hear a thing. Lost front back and swimming alone back and forth - had to stop, take off goggles, sight and swim. Pissed, missing fueling and swam right into a steal b with my right hand - flet like i broke it. Aghh.. Faded at the last .5mi and just wanted to get out b/c felt like I was not making progress and kept thinking we were swimming out to sea "are we going the right way? - Kicked in the last .25 at a good pace again to get out

Overall much better than UM swim w/ muscles, form, etc. Could have swam 6mi at the same pace but need to get down some notes w/ M(not that she will paddle for me in UM or ever again;-). Big mistakes here on multiple fronts and a good time to learn it

Good loop and spin out with Monique and the Walsh factory. Good options down there and glad we stuck around for it. legs felt way better after the swim/ride and good times hanging out

lost my garmin but I did get to use James shoes for some clip-ins.

Good night at Bluesails last night. One of the best brain dump ride chats w/ Monique yesterday on the ride. All coming together!

Slept in and rolling late to SD. DOMS in entire body but not really one area specific (injury type) just REALLY SORE. Movements I have not done in a while and strengthening a weakness. perfect timing. more secret sauce please

early morning quail loop with M and 1/2/1 hill sprints and the end.

Just after run met up w/ Max and Jeff for an OC loop through the canyon. Easy/Steady pace (legs still feeling the track) and picked up the effort on a few short climbs. Power was there just the right distance for today.

Swim 45:00 [2] 1.6 mi (28:07 / mi)

Drove down to Jamestown right after ride and got some pool time. Nice outdoor pool and another good session w/ James. Relaxed and feeling good swimming. ~1600 with 500 snorkel and then did 3x100(1:04, 1:04, 1:03) with 50 back between and not swimming hard. Kicked more on the last 50

RU with James. Finally made it there and learned a lot...failed a lot. Muscular failure that I am already feeling. Huge weakness for me that I am stoked to work on when I can recover from this one.

Felt great swimming and going faster w/out swimming harder. Good to be back at Nova!

Did water time w/ Big P then running around parking lots in Newps (legs a little sore-quads) before Lido session on the boards w/ Dave and P. Slight wind, blazing sun solid core work.

Bear Flag fun and another swim and body wamping at Laguna (without a wetsuit!) before heading back. Full multisport day w/ friends. Loving it!!!!!

massive sleep. In bed over 12hrs and solid sleep. Really needed that...woke up feeling like a new man!

Good quality ride with James out to Newport Coast for some repeats. 6x at about 9min each. mixing in seated, standing and a little aerobars but all big gear 55-65rpm. All a few digits from 260w avg and 135bpm. Then up the 133 home.

Track time w/ Monique and James. No watch so used 500 in hand or pocket.

Warm up and then 4x400 on 200, 4x800 on 400, 1,000 and into a little over 1mi cool down.

Not pushing the pace at all and just working in some quickness. Ran about the same pace for all intervals just extending the distance. Really like this and time just flew by. Fun!
