warm up and very short cool down - thinking about running off the bike or later in the day but nothing left even next day. Level 11 at 9,000ft. Boom!

Best XC course ever...and I will keep saying that... Dead last on the first climb and not holding back but managed to get around a few guys once we hit the single track, a few more every fire road and up to the JV guys by mile 3. 100% and looking for the blow up but it never happened. Probably one of my best executed races for the fitness I have but mostly because I was just so stoked to RACE.
Wide open I caught Derek by about mile 5 before we stated to head down and got stuck behind a group of 4-5 guys and Tim was closing in on us. Finally opened up as Tim got around everyone but D and then it got me out on his wheel. I realized SOMA and BigS sessions. Locked in and epic suffering. Just need to find the right wheels going forward. Anyways, I got around Tim and Derek as we headed into the fun park and traded back and forth with Tim the rest of the lap. I was gaining on the downhills - railing and floating - using the force! He was killing me on the climbs. He just rode 7:16 at Leadville so I knew if I could hold on we would catch the next group. I finished the 1st lap about a min ahead of him but the wheels started to come off starting the climb on the next lap.
Tim put a gap on me and it grew until he was almost out of sight. Two dudes started to close in on me and I was fading fast. Nose bleed lung burn type of stuff but never gave up. Tim got out of sight but just as those guys got within 200ft of me by the time we got the the main lodge I stood on the next climb then gave one big push up Beach Cruiser. Thought for sure I could hear them shifting behind me but never saw them again and finished about 2min behind Tim. One of the most exciting and fun times I have ever had on a mountain bike!!!!!!!
