Strength 20:00 [3]

Up at 4:30 w/out alarm so go up early and dos about 90min of stretching, rolling and 3-4 rounds of myrtles, crunches and plank matrix.

Running 2:08:00 [3] 14.87 mi (8:36 / mi) +2310ft 7:30 / mi
shoes: Montrail_reds

Trail Trashed Legs run - Decided to run the half w/ the majority of the crew but very concerned about my ankles. Super technical like bootleg trails just about everywhere.

Started off on the first climb behind Ashley and he was working overtime. I was in cruz mode but pushing on the climb. Once we got to the fist downhill I was quickly passed by Jerry, Rinz and about 6 other people. ha! Not going to push it and just decided to go training pace and if I had energy after I would run some repeats on the road.

The next 7 miles or so I would pass a bunch of people on the climbs and catch back up to Rinz, who was in 3rd behind Ashley and Jerry out front. Then on the downhills I would sink back to about 6th. Just cruz. So beautiful and nice to be on the trails. No water or cals except for a gel at the start

Somewhere about 10 miles and after running a mile up a sandy wash into a headwind I caught back up to the three amigos. Party time! I noticed that Ashley started walking and was now in 3rd. I thought maybe ProEco could go 1,2,3.... Then we all realized we were lost. Let the party begin! Everyone else doing the half and about 5 people doing the full followed us and now it was a craze. Rinz was like "F this its my Bday and I am just turning around and that is the course" ha ha. I was starting to have fun as Jerry cut across the desert off trail and all these people were like whaaaa? Scrabble time. First one back wins!

I ran off trail to the closest peak to take a look around at what trail we had as options. The race started by the radio towers so we just had to find our way back. Fun! I spent the next mile or two scrambling down the back of the mountain and out a river wash thinking I should have grabbed some water at an aid station in case I really get lost. I started feeling awesome and trusting in my foot placement. Then a few minutes later I see Ashley, Rinz and Jerry running by on a trail. Lets race!!

At this point, I though we were about 2 miles from the finish but it was more like 4. They ran on the trail to an aid station and I took a left and hauled ass up the hill. As I was coming down the hill they were running on the road to meet up and I as screaming and yelling like "this is getting so good! SO GOOD!" I cant wait to see the Strava flyby

We met up when both trails just ended and then it was full on adventure race scramble. I kept thinking how awesome this has become and we have four of us to bust a gut to the finish. Off camber sliding and kicking up big rocks and sliding into the next trail. I took the lead and just extended the gap - all in. Ashley was fading and I kicked into some pace/effort that I have note felt in a long time. So fun! Absolutely going for it and ran the last section full out praying I didnt eat ankle crap and trying no to bonk. Unexpected but the pace work we all needed and super FUN! ProEco goes 1, 2, 3.

Big Y out from the pad and down to Lake Mead. We opted to head into Boulder and then add the Hoover Damn. Great stop. Light wind early on and just rolling with it. Roads area all newly paved and so fun.

Heading back I hit a few TT solo efforts after the 3hr mark. Forgot how good I start to feel late in a ride. FUN! Let it rip around the lake for a bit and then on the out and back for our last section on the North lake. Felt great all day. Rode easy back - wind blocking - while everyone was getting silly, mad and entertaining to me. hahaha. Great day and plenty of stories...

Mount Charleston - no doubt the best road ride I have done in Vegas. 20 mile 5,100ft climb on a new silky smooth road. Nick, Evan, Rinz, Jerry and Eric mixing it up. Really stoked on the crew and layout so far.

Legs are feeling it and gassed last 1/3rd of climb around when we got over 6k.

Swim 1:01:28 [3] 1.59 mi (38:39 / mi)

Hopped in thinking I would cruz a sunshine set but it was basically just Mike and me. He kept me honest and working hard!

3x100 on 1:30, 50 non-free
3x100 on 1:20, 50 non-free
3x100 on 1:15, 50 non-free

no group for the 1K TTT so we went solo 200 steady, 50 fast for a 1,000 (13:25).

Then 4x200 pulling on 2:40
happy and tired 100 flop.
~2,800yds

Learned a ton too. Mike helped me w/ my catch and out of the pool showed me a better push off position - I could feel it pulling too - pulling down the ribs and keeping my back flat. Tired but stoked on swimming.

Swim 1:00:00 [3] 1.56 mi (38:27 / mi)

NOVA! Slept in (5:30?) and worked in the morning again before a call was canceled. I have not been to a lunch session in a long time. Blue bird sky, warm water and new googles. Felt like swimming in HD!

Trainer time - scientific revolution about my shins. 3yrs now of issues and I always knew it was from the bike but finally getting closer and close. Notice a huge help from new shoes then watching the last couple sessions on the trainer and the mirror. ISO leg was a huge show. Anyways, put in the shims that Max gave me about two years ago. BAM! ISO way over a minute with ease and literally 2x the watts. Tried a few different insoles that also help but it was night and day with the shims. Dang. Mentally huge boost that I can stomp the bike and not have to worry about lighting up my shins and limiting the run. Should have isolated the entire process long ago on the trainer with watts and a mirror but happy to finally discover it.

Running 1:10:00 [3] 9.39 mi (7:27 / mi) +471ft 7:07 / mi
shoes: NB-1400-REO-5

BB run with Nick, Eric and Anthony in the wind. Legs def had that "dead leg" feeling in bed last two morning and sore today but held good form and most of the run was pretty relaxed. Stoked my lower legs are feeling good and the weeks are rolling with ease.
