Orienteering race (ROGAINE) 22:15:00 [4] ***** 34.0 mi (39:16 / mi)
ahr:102 rhr:42 slept:7.0 weight:152lbs shoes: New Balance 907

North American ROGAINE Championships in Quebec.

Did OK. No mistakes, didn't work too hard. Possibly alternate route options. I'll do more analysis later.

Running 47:30 [3] 5.7 mi (8:20 / mi) +195m 7:32 / mi
ahr:144 max:173 shoes: New Balance 907

Started with plan to keep heart rate between 120 and 140 and secondarily keep 8'30" pace. The heart rate range monitor worked great. However, I couldn't keep 8'30" pace at 140, so I abandoned the limit. I want to get in E/L runs before the Rogaine since I don't have time for longer runs and because I missed running while I was sick.

It is interesting how hard it is to keep a single pace consistently. At first, it's so easy to go too fast. Then later it's hard to keep it up. Not so much at this distance, but definitely on longer runs.

8'30" is probably a bit too fast for E/L runs, but since I run so few long runs, I may as well keep it.

Sheesh it's hot out!

New shoes seem like they'll be a big improvement.
