Note
(sick)

Saw doctor today. Might be exercise induced asthma, got a puffer to try out. Getting some tests done - breathing test was a bust, painful to breathe hard, apparently at this time I have the lungs of a 54 yr old. Yikes. Chest X ray taken; blood work and ECG on Thursday.

Running 1:10:00 [2]
(sick)

One more time up the mountain at St Hilaire. Worse today, had to walk the steep hills again. Not a happy camper.

Sunday Dec 29, 2002 #

Running 1:10:00 [2]
(sick)

Ran at St Hilaire again, bit better than yesterday, made it up all the hills without walking. Chest still tight though, just doesn't feel right. Made doctor's appt for Tuesday next.

Running 1:10:00 [2]
(sick)

First run in a few days - not healthy. Chest problems, have to walk the steeper hills. Ran at St. Hilaire, up and then back down.

Monday Dec 23, 2002 #

Running 50:00 [1]
(sick)

Slow run on Bruce near home, mostly flat. Trying out the legs after stomach flu, still feeling tightness in the chest.

Wednesday Dec 18, 2002 #

Running 1:00:00 [1]
(sick)

First day back after 3 days off sick. Sudden, hammer, tarno, and snoop did some serious interval work, I jogged around for an hour. Good format for the intervals, looking forward to doing it myself next time! (note added later: chest tight, sore)

Orienteering 1:40:00 [3]

Orienteering, 2 6K courses at Tyandaga/Sassafras with Hammer and Snoop. Lots of climb. Good workout.

Running 15:00 [2]

warmup/down.

This turned out to be the last entry of the week - came down sick on Sunday. Bit of a sore throat, but lots of dizziness and very week.

Totals for the week a bit less than expected due to not running Sunday.

Targets for next week just to get healthy, hopefully stack up the hours later in the week. On vacation starting Friday so if healthy should be able to get some good runs in (and maybe a ski!).

Thursday Dec 12, 2002 #

Running (hills) 50:00 [4]

Hills at Bronte Creek. Tired though, still a tightness in the chest and some dizziness, still fighting an old low level bug. Nice and warm though.

Wednesday Dec 11, 2002 #

Running 1:15:00 [2]

Steady run on rail trails near Chedoke with Hammer, Snoop. Had planned to do something more intense but wasn't feeling too hot - this was better for today.

Monday Dec 9, 2002 #

Running 45:00 [2]

Tired from the previous week, just ran up the hill and back.

Sunday Dec 8, 2002 #

Orienteering (Hanging flags) 1:10:00 [1]

Hanging flags for THOMASS Chase at Woodend. Ran fast between controls but still lots of down time, overall low intensity. Meet went well, if cold.

Weekly recap: very good week, but tired now! Probably my biggest week of the year. 6:45. (-2:15)

Target for next week: a bit easier. 5 hours or so, 5 runs would be good. Main workouts will be Wed eve tempo/hills, Sat morn long workout, fill in with at least 3 more runs, and aerobic hill session if I'm up to it.

Saturday Dec 7, 2002 #

Orienteering 2:00:00 [2]

Back to Hilton Falls north, ran a long course on the base map. Very tricky, but fun.

Friday Dec 6, 2002 #

Running 45:00 [2]

Went for a nice jog on the Bruce Trail near Stoney Creek - E.D. Smith woods. Nice spot.

Thursday Dec 5, 2002 #

Running 50:00 [2]

Just a steady jog at Bronte Creek, 4 or 5 up and down the valley included. Tired from the speed work yesterday.

Wednesday Dec 4, 2002 #

Running (intervals) 45:00 [5]

Hills at Chedoke with Sudden. Sudden fast and strong, theRock slow. Actually an excellent workout, really sucking wind to try to keep up to Hans, but felt great to be doing some speedwork again. Lungs and gut need the workout....

Running 25:00 [1]

warmup warmdown

Monday Dec 2, 2002 #

Running (hills) 50:00 [3]

Ran hills at Bronte Creek, down the valley and back up. 10 reps, 30-35m climb each. Steady pace up and down, strength and aerobic rather than speed oriented. Felt good during and after.

Sunday Dec 1, 2002 #

Running 50:00 [3]

Good run, took the Bruce trail west from Mountainview, very rocky.

Weekly summary: 5:50, 6 runs. Good quantity, quality could have been better. (- 4:00:00)

Targets for next week: 5:30, hills Monday, tempo/hills with Hammerlings Wednesday, long run (2 hours plus) Saturday, THOMASS race flag hanging/pickup Sunday, at least one other run to round it out.
