Sunday Jan 27

Road running 2:44:00 [2] 19.0 mi (8:38 / mi)
shoes: BA5
Cold, light snow falling. Ran the course of Stu's 30K with a couple of stops here and there to stretch. Footing a bit slippery in points, especially going up the hills in Clinton. With the Gang.

Afterward, the sorest part was my triceps, from pumping on the hills.

Saturday Jan 26

Walking 1:00:00 [1] 3.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
Around the west side w/ Daniel, looking for evidence of the Worcester Eruv, which has not yet been announced as complete.

Friday Jan 25

Road running 25:48 [2] 3.0 mi (8:36 / mi)
ahr:146 max:155 shoes: BA4
3M steady on treadmill. L shin starting to twinge a bit. Maybe yesterday's speedwork was too much too soon. We'll see after this weekend's LSD. I'm *almost* behind the 8-ball (again) w.r.t. training for the Shamrock Marathon. This will be one of the most ambitious ramps I've done.

Thursday Jan 24

Road running (speedwork) 53:30 [4] 6.5 mi (8:14 / mi)
ahr:167 weight:163lbs shoes: BA5
On treadmill @ 2% grade.

1.0M w/u, then 6 x 0.5@ 8.6-8.7mph with 0.3@6.0mph recovery, then ~0.5M c/d.

Average interval 3:28@167. Manageable effort, only broke out of 2-2 breathing during last 0.2M.

Wednesday Jan 23

Cycling (recumbent trainer) 40:00 [2] 8.0 mi (4:59 / mi)
ahr:109 max:126
While solvling today's 3 sudokus from www.sudoku.org.uk. Definitely felt the tax on my brain that the cardiovascular load imposed. Numbers were sloppier, as expected, but my logical process seemed more belabored, like running through tall grass. If I get better at this, will it improve my orienteering?

Does/did anyone find that talking to oneself about the plan for a leg helps the execution?

Monday Jan 21

Cycling 1:02:24 [2] 13.0 mi (4:48 / mi)
ahr:122
watching "Back to the Future II" with director's commentary.
