Sunday Feb 17 | ||
| Road running long 3:20:00 [2] 20.0 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| ahr:146 max:177 shoes: BA6 | ||
| Palmgren course end to end to end. Cold. Route is here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1627004. Time is approximate because I stopped the HRM at a traffic light and failed to restart until much later. First 10M was about 97 minutes.
This run started at 16° at 7:40, only got to about 30° by the end, but at least the sun was out. Hands were cold, but we got to hear about Kim's vacation to the Dominican Republic, so maybe it warmed me up vicariously.
| Note | ||
| As we passed the WPI track, I noticed that there was no snow on the inside 2 lanes. Hmmm. Maybe it's time to take the speedwork off the dreadmill and onto the track. | ||
Friday Feb 15 | ||
| Snowshoeing 36:00 [2] 2.75 mi (13:05 / mi) | ||
| On the Assabet River Rail Trail in Hudson/Marlboro. From ARRT x Rt 85 to ARRT x Fitchburg St and back. 0 to 4" of crusty snow. Exertion felt high, even though pace was not. I think I must pay more than a 10% tax on snowshoes. | ||
Thursday Feb 14 | ||
| Road running intervals 51:44 [3] 6.0 mi (8:36 / mi) | ||
| ahr:167 max:177 shoes: BA6 | ||
| Speedwork on the treadmill. Not as much time as I needed to do as many intervals as I wanted to do.
1M w/u 9:00 0.75 5:14 [rest] 0.5 3:27 [rest] 0.75 5:15 [rest] 0.5 3:27 [rest] 0.75 5:15 [rest] then 0.5 c/d. Average 0.75 interval: 5:15 @ HR 167. Average 0.5 interval 3:27 @ HR 167. Manageable effort; only broke out of 2-2 breathing as HR rose above 176. Didn't feel like I was in danger of falling off the back of the 'mill, but if I had done the 6th through 8th intervals, maybe that would have been different.
Wednesday Feb 13 | ||
| Note | ||
| R. hip bothering me. Not sure if it's related to the new shoes. | ||
Tuesday Feb 12 | ||
| Road running 42:00 [2] 5.0 mi (8:23 / mi) | ||
| ahr:154 max:167 shoes: BA6 | ||
| Varying speed. New shoes. Aah, the comfort. Still, when I can't hear the radio, it's a mental challenge. | ||
| Note | ||
| Finished "Collateral." I would have liked to see more of Max's arc from meek cabbie to someone taking control of his life. Tom Cruise, I can still take or leave. I may have to rewatch the Fever nightclub scene just to figure out how the shots landed where they did. It almost made me claustrophobic just watching the sardine-packed club. | ||
Monday Feb 11 | ||
| Cycling 45:00 [2] 10.0 mi (4:30 / mi) | ||
| ahr:127 max:145 | ||
| Moderate spin while watching first part of "Collateral." Tom Cruise's performance so far is unremarkable (big surprise there), but Jamie Foxx looks completely different than in "Ray." | ||
