| Cranbrook/Whisper/Reservoir cw loops, alone. The gang raced Hyannis last weekend, and Stu's 30K was today, so they were elsewhere. This run really felt hard, longer than 20M, but I gmap-pedometered it, and it was right on. Strong wind from the north, seemed to be in my face frequently.
I took a brief unplanned stop back at home after 9M (Cranbrook plus the Whisper lollipop) to switch Camelbaks, after having had the strap become disconnected during the 1st mile. Saw only 1 other runner, a couple of bikers, and a couple of walkers and dog walkers. I guess all the runners were at Stu's. I hope the hills give me some strength to push the pace a bit harder at Shamrock (which is flat). It is difficult to conceive running a further 10K after having exerted this much and in this much discomfort. I know adrenaline will help a bit. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Then I must be getting pretty strong. :-) Taper, here I come.

| Shoveling 30:00 [1] | ||
| Wet stuff. Fortunately, only about 6". | ||
Friday Feb 29 | ||
| Bowling 30:00 [1] | ||
| 3 games: 105, 124, 108. Not my best, but the 124 was close.
Consider it intermittend strength training trying to control a 12 # bowling ball.

| Arch loop, a moderately hilly loop in Shrewsbury, where I worked ~1998 to 2004. A lot has changed with the environs. The office building where we used to be, as Compaq (with HP in the other half), then as Intel, has become Charles River Data Systems. They have an imposing, wrought-iron gate surrounding the complex, requiring a cardkey to open the gates. I couldn't park my car there, so I parked across the street at the finish to the Arch loop, where Quantum is now Siemens. The sidewalks, where people sometimes walked in the evenings, were unplowed. Even the walking path across the street bore signs saying "No Tresspassing."
The roads are mostly the same (certainly the hills are still there in the same places), with a couple of new developments going in. (Like Shrewsbury needs more housing stock.) I even remembered the half mile split locations as I neared them, although some of them were obscured by snow. I just Gmap-Pedometered the route, and got 6.85M :-( It certainly felt like 7M worth of effort, all those years. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1665991

| Road running intervals 17:30 [4] 2.5 mi (7:00 / mi) | ||
| ahr:168 max:182 | ||
| Speed work session. 800/1200/800/1200. Really felt crappy. Didn't have time for more intervals, had to head to the NEOC constitutional convention. :-)

| Road running warm up/down 26:00 [2] 2.5 mi (10:24 / mi) | ||
| warmup mile, cool down 1/2 mile, and rest intervals of 400 between each interval. | ||

| rhr:47 | ||
| A new low. I don't think my rHR has been this low since my first spate of marathons, 1998-2001. It certainly didn't get this low during the training ramp of the last marathon, Clarence DeMar, or during triathlon training. | ||
