Sunday May 11

Road running 1:46:00 [2] 11.0 mi (9:37 / mi)
ahr:144 max:159 shoes: BA7
Around the reservoir with the gang. Bright day, but it began a bit chilly, so I was glad I was in tights.

Saturday May 10

Walking 1:15:00 [0] 4.0 mi (18:44 / mi)
To Daniel's soccer game up Moreland Hill and back. Walked at a moderate, not brisk pace, since my calf muscles feel tight and a bit sore from yesterday's elliptical workout.

Friday May 9

Elliptical trainer 20:00 [3]
This elliptical unit has variable slope. Weird.
Cycling 20:00 [3] 5.0 mi (3:59 / mi)
Stationary bike at work, finishing the killer sudoku of the day. Tried to keep my numerals neater than the last time. Afterward they were pretty readable.
Note
weight:167lbs
After 2 stops on the cardio circuit, I got onto the treadmill and tried to run a bit, but my tibia hurt as soon as I got on, so I stopped. Hmmm.

Thursday May 8

Road running 37:22 [1] 4.2 mi (8:54 / mi)
shoes: BA7
Horse loop. Pain on inside of L tibia began shortly after beginning the run, affecting my stride. Interestingly enough, I didn't notice any discomfort yesterday at the 5K race (intense effort) or on Sunday's LONG LSD run (long effort). Last week's Xrays showed no damage to bone, joint, or soft tissue. I suppose that's good news.

At the stream passing under Shay St, the water level was up to "3.1" units. Quite a bit of water covering ground that's normally dry. The graduated board nailed to the tree only goes up to "3.3".

Wednesday May 7

Road running warm up/down 8:00 [1] 0.9 mi (8:52 / mi)
shoes: BA6
w/u before club 5K
Road running race 22:14 [5] 5 km (4:27 / km) vdot: 44.0
ahr:166 max:178 shoes: BA6
Devens 5K course, clockwise (backward from how I'm accustomed to running it). They claimed this direction is faster than counterclockwise, but I'm not sure. They don't even have the splits marked on the pavement, so these splits are in terms of miles to go:

7:48 for the first 1.107 miles (159) (slight up, then down)
7:15 for the 2nd 1M (167)
3:56 for the next 0.5M (172) (slight uphill)
3:15 for the last 0.5M (169) (slight downhill).

7th overall, quite pleased with my pace; 1 guy passed me on the first long downhill, but I passed him back for good near the end of the 2nd mile. In the net, no one passed me. I guess there was a slightly smaller turnout than typically, but 22:14 was faster than I expected given little prior speedwork.

I think the first 0.607 (old "finish" to "2.5" mark) went in 4:14, which sent my hypoxic brain into fits trying to extrapolate the finish time. For some reason, I was coming up with 6 x (10:00 - 4:14), which > 33:00. The first 6 was from 3.1 / 0.5+.

All at 2-2 breathing.
Road running tempo 8:00 [1] 0.8 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: BA6
warmup before 5K race.
