Sunday Aug 3

Road running 1:48:26 [2] 12.0 mi (9:02 / mi)
ahr:149 max:168 shoes: BA6
Around the reservoir with Jodi, and some others for various parts. Good conversation made it all possible, as my legs were feeling somewhat leaden after about halfway. Had I been alone, I would have walked at least once, but with a friend, we were both gently pushing ourselves to maintain running form (if not a strong pace) the whole time.

Friday Aug 1

Road running 1:05:08 [2] 7.0 mi (9:18 / mi)
ahr:145 max:171 shoes: BA7
Assabet River Rail Trail 7M loop, clockwise. Very few on the trails on a beautiful afternoon. No noticeable progress has been made on the bridge where the trail crosses the Assabet River adjacent to Rt 62. Lots of construction equipment, lots of evidence of work in progress, but nothing obviously changed since I ran this route a few months ago.

Thursday Jul 31

Note
Really tight hip flexors after yesterday's paddle. Also, feeling pretty drained even after 8 hours of sleep.

Wednesday Jul 30

Paddling 3:00:00 [1]
As part of a volunteer effort with the Organization for the Assabet River, I pulled invasive water chestnut plants from the Assabet River in Stow. I'd venture a WAG that we pulled 100 pounds of the plants today.

Tuesday Jul 29

Road running 42:05 [2] 5.0 mi (8:25 / mi)
ahr:148 max:165 rhr:58 shoes: BA7
Salisbury out-and-back, evening run. Tried to see how HR 150 would feel. At times it felt plodding, and at others it felt like a hard effort. Guess I've become untrained :-( that a HR of 150 could only get me up to 8:15 pace. I'm also not heat acclimated.

Monday Jul 28

Road running 1:15:58 [1] 8.0 mi (9:29 / mi)
ahr:144 max:164 slept:7.0 shoes: BA6
The remainder of yesterday's aborted 11M LSD run. Got plenty sweaty at 9am, even with a fair amount of shade and temps in the mid 60s. Legs felt pretty blotto, as well as muscles in my lower back and one of the leg muscles used in getting up from a crouch. After the 1st year of clipping chips in the finish chute at Danskin, I wondered why my legs felt like I'd been attacked with a baseball bat on the backs of my legs. A couple of days later, I knew why. :-)

Sunday afternoon's running clothes had still not dried out.
