Road running long 1:54:00 [2] 11.0 mi (10:22 / mi)

Long run with the gang around the reservoir. It was below 20 and windy once the sun got over the trees, really nasty weather for a run. Although I felt like I was dragging occasionally between 4-6, the last 3 miles were sub-9 pace, and I was strong on one of the hills from hell. (It goes past a house numbered 666.) :-)

Road running intervals 4:00 [3] 0.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Unplanned speed workout from the comedy club to the ATM and back. I didn't know (and hadn't asked) that they only took cash.

Sarah Blodgett was funnier in the print interview in Worcester Magazine than she was on stage. Her delivery was a bit uneven.

Second up was John Turco, and the headliner was Mike McDonald, who was quite funny, though some of his humor was at the expense of audience members, which was momentarily uncomfortable.

Road running hills 20:00 [1] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
ahr:145 max:156

Easy-paced hill workout on the treadmill, using a base grade of 2.0%, around which the treadmill varied the grade while keeping the speed constant.

Road running 33:00 [1] 3.25 mi (10:09 / mi)
shoes: BA9

Warmup, cooldown, and recovery intervals of speedwork.

Road running intervals 27:00 [3] 3.75 mi (7:12 / mi)
ahr:162 max:171 shoes: BA9

5 intervals of 0.75M @ 8.3mph (7:13 pace) or faster with 0.25M recovery @ 4.5mph. The splits were 5:26 (x4) and 5:15 for the last one. Throughout, my breathing was 2-2.

As hard as this pace felt (I'd call it "comfortably hard", not so hard that I wasn't sure I could make it through the interval), it's slower than recommended for vdot=44.

Road running 22:30 [2] 2.75 mi (8:11 / mi)
rhr:59 shoes: BA8

Run along the rail trail. Ran low on time, was going to run on the treadmill, but only had cold weather gear. The rail trail was icy in spots, and I remembered falling and hitting my head on one stretch last year.

The lighting from the full moon was bright enough to cast a distinct shadow.

Road running 34:00 [2] 4.15 mi (8:12 / mi)
ahr:150 max:163 shoes: BA8

Treadmill run, done at steadily increasing speed.
Mile splits:
8:34 @ 139
8:20 @ 149
8:06 @ 155
7:54 @ 158
last bit @ 8.0mph -> HR of 161.

Road running 23:28 [2] 3.0 mi (7:49 / mi)
ahr:150 max:170 shoes: BA9

3M briskly in the evening. Temps were in the 50s today, but were falling when I ran. Lots of foggy patches, looked like a Hitchcock movie. Some areas were chilly.
