Orienteering race 1:07:36 [3] **** 2.7 km (25:02 / km)
shoes: Falcon

Blew the 2nd leg with an error almost as long as the fastest winning times. :-(

Orienteering race 1:15:20 [3] **** 3.5 km (21:31 / km)
shoes: Falcon

Afternoon sprint. Even though not moving very fast, I still managed to get disoriented and struggle some.

Road running 20:30 [1] 2.0 mi (10:15 / mi)
shoes: BA14

Drove down to the oldest public park in the US for a couple of easy laps. I paid careful attention to the HR display of my garmin, and when it topped 170 I paused to sanity-check it against my neck. Conclusion: bogus data on the device, and my Rating of Perceived Exertion correlates with my HR.

Then bought some bagels and back home.

Note

On the way back from Cemetery Hill, I stopped by the cemetery in Granby where my sister and nephew are buried.

Orienteering race 42:58 [3] ** 2.5 km (17:11 / km)
ahr:147 max:170 shoes: Falcon

short sprint. Nasty green yuck between 6 and 7 on (what I thought was) the straight line. After getting hung up, pricked, and tripped, I went the long way around way north of 8 and back to 7.

Orienteering 28:11 [3] ** 2.6 km (10:50 / km)
ahr:154 max:169 shoes: Falcon

Chase, began after Mika, Trisha and Lyn. Exited #2 the wrong way and got behind Trisha, before whom I punched #2. (She must have made an error 1-2.) From 3-4 went mostly straight and got ahead of Lyn and Trisha, but they caught back up by #7, which I thought came up mighty early after crossing the little trickle. I read the map better than they did on the approach to #8, then didn't see them again. 8-9, I went around to the left, not wanting to risk getting hung up on the supposedly dry spot between the two ponds. I heard Clint say he went right through the pond after judging the bottom to be robust enough to support his weight. 9-10 I went diagonally across the large field to a little ride running NE-SW.

Overall, a nice set of courses set by Phil, nice weather, for which I was underdressed, and good company.
