Volunteer stint in Hopkinton for the 122nd Boston Marathon. In 2 years of running it and 17 years volunteering, this was the worst weather I have faced. At the start of one wave, the announcer said the temperature was 39°. The rain was steady, ranging from moderate drizzle to just-below-downpour. Those poor runners with <10% body fat.
I think these pictures (of the finish line, unfortunately) captures the zeitgeist pretty well, especially the one captioned "Runners step in a puddle..."
