Road running long 1:38:25 [1] 10.4 mi (9:28 / mi)
ahr:142 shoes: BA10

Long run on the Mass Central Rail Trail w R. Quite a pleasant run. Nice temps, much shade, burbling water off to the side for much of the run, not too buggy, just the occasional hill to keep us honest. Nice view of Mt. Wachusett at one point. Several other CMS members passing and overtaking, some cyclists and dog walkers, too. The miles flew by. Part of the trail, past Manning St, I had never run on. It wasn't until R. mentioned a landmark on Manning St that I placed where Manning St was in my cognitive map. When we got to the turnaround point at the end of Mill St, I placed where we were immediately. The section from Manning to Mill St would make a nice bit for MTB riding.

Splits: 3M 28:30 @ 147 (flat)
2.2M 22:43 @ 139 (rolling hills)
2.2M 21:18 @ 137 (rolling hills)
3M 25:56 @ 142.

Road running 55:30 [2] 6.0 mi (9:15 / mi)

Run in Shorewood and Milwaukee's lakefront area with 2011 Boston Marathon finisher D. Pace was a bit quicker than I would have preferred. I don't like running on the concrete sidewalks, but D said people don't run in the streets. (and I didn't see anyone doing so, either.)

The course we took wandered south toward downtown, then went down and then back up a hill D called St. Mary's hill, which is in the 3rd mile of an upcoming 5K course. The hill wasn't too tough for a weekday run, but I think during the last bit of a race this will be quite a challenge.

Temps were mild.
