Tuesday May 31 | ||
| Running 30:00 [2] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Kayano X | ||
| Water tower loop, with 4x20s pickups. Spent most of the weekend either in the hospital or at the house, not running around. Too bad, it was very nice up there. I feel very rested, at least. | ||
Saturday May 28 | ||
| Note | ||
| (rest day) | ||
| Going home for family. I don't know that I'll get to run while I'm there, but I might really want to. | ||
Thursday May 26 | ||
| Strength/Core 30:00 [3] | ||
| rhr:54 slept:8.0 (rest day) | ||
| I'm pretty beat, so today and tomorrow are supposed to be really chill. Quivering calves, elevated HR, just general fatigue and still feeling exhausted after 8 hours of sleep...eugh. Unfortunately, PT was not as chill as it could have been... | ||
Wednesday May 25 | ||
| Running 57:00 [2] 5.4 mi (10:34 / mi) | ||
| slept:7.0 weight:147lbs shoes: Kayano X | ||
| I keep forgetting to start measuring morning RHR. Could be useful to tell me whether the heat & humidity are tearing me down or whether my legs really are this dead this whole past week. Today was slow and rough going. Squadron run+commute. Did 4x20 pickups at the end. Air status at the beginning: Temp: 68F, Dewpoint: 68F. Got a little warmer by the end (75).
Eurgh. I'd take 90 and dry any day. Tucson can't come soon enough. :-)
| Swimming 30:00 [4] 1 km (30:00 / km) | ||
| Easy stuff sandwiching 20 x(25m) hard. | ||
| Strength/Core (Yoga) 1:00:00 [1] | ||
| After swimming I tried the "yoga challenge" class, which actually wasn't at all what I expected. I don't know if the short DVD yoga stuff I've been doing has really helped me that much, or if it was just an easy session, but it didn't kick my butt nearly as much as the last one did. But it was good, and I'll try to work in the wed session each week. | ||
Monday May 23 | ||
| Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Kayano X | ||
| To the gym and back. Taking it easy for a bit to see if my legs spruce back up. Also think it'll be good to start doing some short runs in the heat. Today it was 88 but not humid - dp about 60. Felt nice, actually, though I'm sweating like a pig. | ||
| Strength/Core 15:00 [1] | ||
| pullups, dips, etc. | ||
Sunday May 22 | ||
| Running long 1:20:00 [2] 6.67 mi (11:59 / mi) | ||
| slept:6.0 weight:148lbs shoes: Mountain Ridge | ||
| Trails over at HCSNA. I was worse than sluggish today. I don't know why. It was warm, but not hot yet. Probably upper 70s and mildly humid. I rested Friday AND Saturday. I was well hydrated and fed. I was wearing a full CamelBak, but it's not *that* heavy. After 80 minutes I realized that I barely had the energy to walk up the hills and decided to hike it in rather than pretend to try to run for another ~40 minutes. It was still beautiful out there, and I didn't see any breeding snakes. | ||
| Hiking 30:00 [1] 1.88 mi (15:57 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Mountain Ridge | ||
| The hike back to the car at Hill Country. Walking felt much better. | ||
Thursday May 19 | ||
| Strength/Core 20:00 [1] | ||
| Running intervals 20:00 [4] 2.5 mi (7:59 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Nike Reds | ||
| 5x(4 min hard, 3 min easy)
Except an extra minute of rest after the second one because my legs were fried and I really didn't think I could do any more. My brain convinced my body that working through mild sluggishness and fatigue was good for my brain. Like my body would care. I guess it did. Trails dry, lots of aminals...and mtn bikers, in both directions, oddly enough.
| Running 43:00 [2] 3.5 mi (12:17 / mi) | ||
| slept:7.0 shoes: Nike Reds | ||
| Warm up, cool down, and recovery between intervals. | ||
Wednesday May 18 | ||
| Running 55:00 [2] 5.4 mi (10:11 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Kayano X | ||
| Normal wednesday squadron run and "commute". Legs kinda feel toasty again. Can't be from Saturday still, can it? Strange. | ||
Tuesday May 17 | ||
| Strength/Core 15:00 [1] | ||
| Pullups, dips | ||
| Cycling 1:01:00 [3] 15.2 mi (4:01 / mi) | ||
| Perimeter loop. 12 mph wind from the SE. Nice day... | ||
Monday May 16 | ||
| Running 28:00 [2] 2.5 mi (11:12 / mi) +20m 6:47 / km | ||
| shoes: Nike Reds | ||
| Easy run with Melissa at mac. A little sore in places from sat's race, but felt good to run. | ||
Saturday May 14 | ||
| Running race 1:34:00 [4] 10.0 mi (9:23 / mi) vdot: 34.6 | ||
| shoes: Nike Reds | ||
| Prickly Pear 10 Mile Trail Run at McAllister. I was 4th in my age group, out of at least 15, and that's faster than I expected for a trail race, so I'm pretty happy. Just out of reach of one of those frosted beer mugs, though...
splits: 9:16, 9:03, 8:39, 9:44, 9:38, 9:32, 9:04, 9:31, 9:50, 9:54 The beginning was tight on the singletrack, but also flat and some paved parts in miles 1-3. Miles 4 and 5 had some unexpected hills, and I pushed too hard in mile 8...
Wednesday May 11 | ||
| Running 24:00 [2] 2.4 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Kayano X | ||
| Squadron run. No more, no less - my legs were toast. | ||
Tuesday May 10 | ||
| Swimming 30:00 [3] 1.2 km (25:00 / km) | ||
| Strength/Core 20:00 [1] | ||
| Silly PT stuff. | ||
| Cycling 2:15:00 [3] 28.0 mi (4:49 / mi) +120m 2:57 / km | ||
| Weekly Cibolo social ride. Getting one's butt kicked on a social ride is always excellent motivation to ride more.
Too many animals to list, here is a sampling: 1 llama 534 angry 4-legged dogs 1 angry 3-legged dog
Monday May 9 | ||
| Strength/Core 15:00 [1] | ||
| Pullups, dips, etc. | ||
| Running 1:13:00 [2] 6.6 mi (11:03 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Nike Reds | ||
| At muddy Mac. Was supposed to be long, but that wasn't going to happen. It was warmer that it has been - 86 with 70+% r.h., that may have been a factor. But I really felt sub-par when I started.
Animal sightings today: 1 bunny rabbit (live) 1 bunny rabbit (squished) 1 toad* 2 armadillos 3 cardinals 5,375,238 deer *toad gets bonus points for scaring the bejeezus out of me
Saturday May 7 | ||
| Running intervals 18:20 [4] 2.39 mi (7:40 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Nike Reds | ||
| 5x(3 min hard, 2 min easy) and then 4x50s reps. At Mac on the loop. | ||
| Running warm up/down 41:00 [2] 3.6 mi (11:23 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Nike Reds | ||
Thursday May 5 | ||
| Running 29:00 [2] 3.0 mi (9:39 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Kayano X | ||
| Firehouse. Drop day! w00t! | ||
Wednesday May 4 | ||
| Running tempo 20:00 [4] 2.33 mi (8:34 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Kayano X | ||
| In the middle of the squadron run. Cool but muggy. Erugh. Started off a little fast for "tempo" and maybe slowed down a bit much for the rest. Still a good 20 min effort. | ||
| Running warm up/down 31:00 [2] 3.1 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Kayano X | ||
| Mostly to and from squadron run. | ||
Tuesday May 3 | ||
| Strength/Core 10:00 [1] | ||
| Silly PT stuff. | ||
| Running 10:00 [3] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Kayano X | ||
| More silly PT stuff. In this case, "Indian sprints". | ||
Monday May 2 | ||
| Strength/Core 15:00 [1] | ||
| slept:5.0 | ||
| Running long 1:25:00 [2] 8.23 mi (10:19 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Nike Reds | ||
| At Mac. Once again felt great when I hit 60 minutes. Dunno if it's something about the time, or maybe just the way the route that I've been running goes... | ||
Sunday May 1 | ||
| Hiking 1:00:00 [1] 3.0 mi (20:00 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Mountain Ridge | ||
| Caroline and I hiked around Pedernales for a couple of hours. It was somewhat disappointing. The falls are nice enough. | ||
