Running (trail) 42:00 [2] 3.2 mi (13:06 / mi)
shoes: Asics Trail
Mid-morning run at Sabino Canyon with seabass, Bear Canyon trail. It was a bit warmer than we anticipated and the trail was a bit hillier than seabass was up for, so we walked a bit, and I went back and forth a bit. Nice to get out and loosen up a bit before a long day of work (ha!).

Cycling (road) 22:00 [2]
Ride in. My scheduling luck seems to have run out - finally have a conflict with WOG, flying tonight. Wanted to go for a trail run this morning instead but I finally actually slept for a long time. A valid trade off.
Cycling (road) 18:00 [3]
Ride home, a little quicker than usual because it was almost cold. I'll need to find my knee warmers. Definitely didn't make it out before midnight but I guess I'm just going to make up these logging rules as I go, subject to change as I go.

Ride in. Played leap frog with a bus. Lots of wind and stuff. Warm out, but not hot. Felt nice enough.
Cycling (road) 20:00 [2]
Ride home... think I got out the door just before midnight, so this still counts as yesterday. Tid bit nipply out but quite pleasant with a jacket. A jacket!

I eat a lot of junk when I have to sit at the ops desk. No peeps, of course, nothing quite that awful, but not exactly carrots and hummus all night.

Camp Sherman Classic day. This one didn't go as well, though I didn't really realize it until after I finished.

Today's course was Long in character, which meant more trail and road options and therefore less chaparral. Sort of. I managed to add chaparral to my course, just because it's been a while since I've given blood and I wanted to make sure October was taken care of.

I had a few small mistakes (made 1 and 10 harder than they were, blew by 12 because the veg didn't seem to match) and I was quite tired for the last few controls. My feet were torn up (old shoes seem to have shrunk?) and I was hobbling a bit for the second half of the course... but all of that didn't seem to add up to being so very much slower than everyone else.

The "highlight" of the day, and the source of my slowness, it turns out, was the big green hill. We had all anticipated having to climb this sucker the night before and had considered the options for going up and down. There were three apparently viable routes - one up a supposedly clear/forested streambed, one through supposedly mostly white forest, and one on a supposed trail. I had pretty much decided before I started that, given the bingo nature of getting through the vegetation, I'd take a trail option if it were viable.

There was indeed a trail option, slightly out of the way of the obvious route up the streambed. I didn't like the straight option because the vegetation is sketchy and I didn't want to have to clamber over rocks and pick through junk, which just seemed very slow and tiresome (hill is ~125m). I figured even with the extra distance and a bit of extra climb that the trail option was quite reasonable, especially since I was bound to move a lot faster. The trail turned out to be fairly unclear, and wasn't super fast, but I still figured I was making good uphill progress. That is, until I reached the top, mapped as scattered junk but in reality composed of large sections of solid junk. I have no idea how long it took me to hack across, but looking at the splits now I figure at least 10 or 12 minutes, given that it took me almost 7 on the way back to the next control. Ouch.

Frustrated with the colors on the map I decided to go back the way I'd come, figuring that it'd be easier to follow the trail on the way down having already used it once. It was slow. Clearly I took the worst route up and possibly a bad choice on the way down, too. The only thing is, looking at the map, it still seems like an okay choice - or maybe I'm crazy or destined to always make horrible route choices since I can't seem to tell which ones are ridiculously stupid. Had I known that the top of the hill would be so nasty I probably wouldn't have done it, but I don't feel that there's any way of knowing that from the map. I feel duped.

There was a map exchange, so 2 maps. Map 1 and map 2.

Ron Hudson in 1:32 and then a whole lot of people between us, including Tapio in 1:38 and Jan in 1:48.

Middle distance day, though Clare made sure to give us our money's worth with slightly longer than advertised courses.

A pretty good run for me. The terrain was quite different than what I expected from the description and the photos on the website. Basically, it was way thicker and scratchier with a lot less woods. You know, better, only totally not. In case anyone was wondering whether or not chaparral makes for good running, I can offer up a very strong opinion that it does not.

The notes indicated that the courses started in the more technical part of the map, so I had it in my head to start nice and slow. And I did, but that's partially because I flipped the map over and went, "Woah, what's with all the green? And why are the lines so dark?". Squinting at the map, I made my way slowly to the first control, no issues. Tried to figure out the best way to pick a route through the chaparral on the way to 2 and 3 but never really figured it out. I don't think there's a real technique to it, you just have to be lucky and/or big and scratch resistant.

Had a few bobbles - went right by 6 because I was looking for a bigger feature than the little dip that it was in. Twelve was a real bitch, I don't think I actually screwed anything up, but it took forever to get there. Maybe would have been better to just go all the way around the bottom of the hill in the open-ish stuff. And by the time I got to the end of the course I was pretty beat, because I had expected to be out for 40-some minutes, not almost an hour, and had thus been running harder (a good thing!) and I started running towards 17 on the way to 16. But other than those few things (2 or 3 min total?) it was a solid run with a good result.

Jeff Coker blew everyone away in ~47, Paul Ort in ~56, then Tapio only 14 seconds ahead of me and Jan just over a minute behind me. So, 5th overall and first F-21+, which looked great in the results because the next three women were all Norwegian. How often is that going to happen?

I liked the way I felt for most of the course, actually reading the map in order to know what to expect ahead of me and then actually looking for it and actually running the right way. The map.

Ride in. My legs are tired today, but weren't yesterday. Love it.

Didn't sleep well.

Coincidence? Probably not.

It didn't get a 1 because it stars two of my favorite actresses, but that certainly didn't hurt...

Ride home. Really tired today. Got home too late to go to WOG, especially since I would have had to leave early, too. Need sleep tonight.

Excited for the LAOC meet this weekend. I think the courses will be a lot of fun... that's assuming smittyo's descriptions are accurate. ;-)

I had seabass pick me up at work so that we could squeeze in a trail run before dark. We went to the same trailhead as I did on Monday but ran different trails. I wonder if I'll be in Tucson long enough to run or hike every trail in the 4 surrounding mountain ranges... sounds like a good challenge, I guess I need a list (or a big map on the wall) to check off.

It was warmer than it has been (low 80s) but still really nice. Pretty uneventful except for the whole rattlesnake thing. I was running along and was only about three steps away from a totally not cute Diamondback sprawled on the side of the trail. My eyes recognized it right away but my brain hadn't quite fully processed what it was and given the "about face" order before it started rattling. Scared the bejeezus out of me and I swear I was facing the other way within .02 seconds. I ran back towards seabass and told her there was a rattlesnake ahead. She's never seen one, so we walked around in a direction that enabled us to get a better view from off the trail. It wasn't super big (maybe 3 feet long?) and, as I've said, not very cute, so it didn't have much going for it in life.

Just after we passed the snake seabass said, "I can't wait to read your log" followed almost immediately by, "Isn't it ridiculous that I was *with you* but still wanted to read about it in your log?" Yes, yes it is.

Ride in, silly early and a bit chilly. Doesn't seem worth it to have to wear so much clothing for such a short ride.
Cycling (road) 18:00 [2]
Home, approximately 13 hours after the first trip of the day. I was very tired and dehydrated during the flight today, and did some stupid things. I drank 2 liters of liquid (mostly water) after landing and still don't feel so great... but WOG will lift my spirits, I'm sure...
Running (road) 1:29:30 10.0 mi (8:57 / mi)

It did, it did! WOG was quite good today. Actually, it could have been quite a bummer - we can't use the baseball fields right now (the warning track around the four practice fields is our half mile track) and almost everyone ran the 10 mile race on Sunday... so almost everyone just did an easy run today. Luckily there were three others who wanted a tough workout.

We ran over to the bike path and just ran there instead of the dirt. Agenda:
warmup (~10 minutes)
strides (5?)
4x 1 mile with 2 min recovery
5 min easy
4x 1 min hard ("quick and light") + 1 min easy

Then Diane and I kept going to round it out at 10 miles. We ran most of the workout with Pete and Brigita (?), so we're adding to our posse.

Miles were 7:53 (easing into it), 7:36 (whoops), 7:41, and 7:34. The third one was really hard, partially because of the too fast second one, partially because of a nasty headwind, but mostly because we started at 8:00 pace and then picked it up to finish quite fast. Tough.

Diane is hoping to run sub 4:00 at the Tucson Marathon so that she can qualify for Boston. I think she came quite close last year (as in, within 40 seconds or something) and is determined to make it this time. With the miles she's running and the speed that she can do these workouts, I'd be surprised if she doesn't pull it off this year. It's motivating. Maybe someday I'll be motivated to actually do something crazy like run a marathon.

New trailhead and new trails today. Parked at the end of Broadway, which haven't done before because there's no parking area, unlike the end of Speedway, even though the B'way trailhead is several miles closer. Turns out that it wasn't any faster to get to today because of construction but there's plenty of parking along the road so I needn't worry about that.

Fun, felt pretty good. Probably helps that it was a glorious 70 degrees out (!!!) and the sun was almost down. Got pretty dark by the last few minutes of the run, nice moon shadows and all, and for once I had had the foresight to bring a headlamp! I used it for the last few minutes to make sure that all those rocks along the trail really were rocks and not rattlesnakes.

In O news, I was so very excited to read that there's still a good chance that the 2008 US Trail-O Champs will be right here in Tucson next February.

Actually, I can't complain since I imagine it would bring a few people to the meet who wouldn't otherwise have come, and more people isn't a bad thing when you're so very far from so many people...

Note
Today was the local meet at Box Canyon, real course setting experience #2. Didn't have to do much, just showed up with the maps and list of "pre-registered" runners and mostly hung around. Went pretty smoothly - no mis-set alarms and hurrying to hang controls.

The courses were not prepared with the same kind of attention, love, and tenderness as the last meet, but they were still well received. One group saw a rattlesnake and that was about it for wildlife reports. I guess everything else was pretty inconsequential.

Anyway, they're here. And yes, I like the easy controls at the end of the advanced courses, and so did the people who like to run fast. ;-)

Mid-morning attempt at a longish run in Saguaro East on the Douglas Spring trail. Couldn't get out as early as I'd planned, but it was pretty nice (under the shade of the porch)when I left the house. Not so much once I got started. Unusually warm for late October, high in the 90s today, and I just didn't have the legs for the climb. Managed to keep running through the first mile, but that first steep section seems to have zapped my zip. Ran on and off (the steep stuff) through the next 2.5 miles until I hit one hour and then turned around. Did run the whole way back, though some parts are actually pretty slow going down, too.

I did make it further than I ever have before, well past Bridal Falls. Some day I'll make it all the way to the campground, but I think that some day will be a cold one.

I wore my waist camelbak thingy today and was very happy that I had water with me. When I started it was close to full (over a liter of water) and was not very comfortable. It was much better later on, but I guess I'd need to take a full, large, over the shoulder style bladder (2 or 3 liters) if I were going to do something much longer. Drank almost all of it, and that was holding back because I thought I was running out on the way up!

Og, I just looked at the forecast and the high tomorrow is only 81! It's almost too bad I'll be down at Box Canyon all day, would have been a much better day to try.
Note
Contacts update: Uh, yeah, I haven't even touched them in a couple of weeks. I haven't given up, I was just taking a little break. Things should be calm enough over the next week that I can try again. Maybe Kissy and I should just trade eyes.

Down to Box Canyon to finalize the courses for Sunday. Grass is all yellow now. :-( I used duct tape on my shoes today, and wore gaiters, but my ankles were still left exposed, not to mention my calves. Pretty spectacular collection of plant material on the floor of my car now.

Brodsky was there to hang bags where I'd already streamered. He'll be back tomorrow to finish hanging, which is awesome. Means all I have to worry about is getting the maps done and printed.

I'm back from Gila Bend, a bit later than I thought. I got up nice and early this morning and wanted to run, but thought that I'd be back in time for WOG. Stuff took longer than we expected (surprise, surprise) and, well, now it's late and I am going to go to bed... but only after updating my log, of course.

I wonder how long it will take to read 6 days worth of AP logs and how many people will be purged from my favorites in the process. ;-)

A pretty noneventful night run. I had to wait a while because we'd had a big cookout - we got the "resupply mission" to bring us burgers and chips and charcoal so that we could stuff our faces with non-MRE fatty, greasy, goodness. (Yeah, this is the AF, not the Army, we don't do "hardcore".) I ate a lot. So, even though I ran hours after eating, I could steal feel it. At about the 41 minute mark I felt like I should stop, before the Myanmar situation in my stomach got worse, but I really wanted a solid number, like 45... so I kept going (slowly) until 45 minutes and then walked back in. It was a pretty glorious night so it was nice even walking.

Running (dirt) 1:36:00 [3] 10.1 mi (9:29 / mi)

This was a sunset loop around the whole "base". Or rather, it started as a sunset run and turned into a "holy crap it's really dark out and I'm on the wrong side of the runway and I just have to keep going and that creosote bush really just looked like a javelina I better run faster" run.

I ran out to the gate, as I did the past two days, but this time stopped to talk to the guards and ask where the dirt roads went and whether I could run on them. They told me it was a perimeter road and as long as they know that I'm doing it it's okay to run around it. I guess they want to make sure none of the guards confuse a runner for a Mexican drug runner, wearing a neon yellow hat, a bright blue running tank, and white and pink running shoes. I'm sure that happens all the time.

They disagreed over the length of the road, one saying he thought it was 13 miles and the other said it had to be shorter, more like 7 or 8. The only thing definitive that they could tell me was that it took them about 50 minutes to drive it at 10mph when they did their perimeter check. Since I could bail out near the tents, I figured I'd give it a try with the 40 min of light remaining. I ended up feeling good and enjoying running somewhere different and it got very dark and spooky.

A pretty satisfying run, especially since the length was totally unplanned. I think I psyche myself out sometimes before a long run, thinking about how long and unpleasant it will be, and thus feeling worn out after only a few miles. But this was great, I got peppier and peppier as I ran. Good stuff.

A little more exploring today, morning run instead of evening. It was a little later than I had expected and the sun a bit stronger and my hydration not so great, so I didn't do a long run like I kind of thought that I would. I mean, it's not like I had much else to do. Out to the gate and then a bit of exploring on the other site of the tent village.

Saturday Oct 13

Running (road) 30:00 [2] 3.1 mi (9:40 / mi)

I got fairly last-minute notice that I was to spend the week at an exercise in Gila Bend, AZ. I was a little worried about being able to get the courses done for the Tucson meet this weekend (still worried), but sort of ambivalent about the experience otherwise. I'd spent the past few weeks trying to learn my job in preparation for "deploying" for the exercise, and now I was going to play in it, too. At least I could see what worked well and what didn't first-hand.

We stayed in tent shelters at the auxiliary field and basically sat around in a very empty desert, spending our time chilling in the shade, flying, and eating MREs. Unfortunately, the "base" didn't offer a lot of good running opportunities. Today (our first day) I just ran out to the gate (and looked with yearning at the cars on the main road on the other side) and around a bit on the road.

WOG. A little late again, Randy insisted we all just run easy because people were worn out from Sunday + Tuesday and people tend to get hurt in early fall. I was kind of looking forward to some spiffy stuff, but he's probably right, so I ran easy.

There was a fairly new WOGger who didn't know where she was going on the way over to the bike path, or where it went, so I ended up running with her and chatting. I'm usually bad with names, but her name is Shelley (mu middle name), so I'm sure I'll remember. We had a nice, chill jog around the golf course. I managed to talk a lot about orienteering, of course, and she's a yoga instructor, so I got in some good stretching afterwards. ;-)

We received J-J's prize for his being the 30000th 'visitor' today. Good stuff, I hope he enjoyed it, too. (And I could hardly taste the bourbon.)

Looked like I'd be able to squeeze in a trail run before dark, so seabass picked me up at work and we headed to Sabino Canyon... only things took a little longer than I thought and we got there basically at sunset. Tried to do a loop that went out on trail and back on the road (for the darkness), but after about 2 minutes seabass had to walk. I ran back and forth for a bit, but I was a bit woozy (long day outside? not enough water? moron for a "supervisor"?) so I stopped after 15 min and we both walked back to the car. Oh well, we tried.
Note
Okay, as if I don't have to deal with enough things that don't make sense on a daily basis:

I just registered for the upcoming LAOC A-meet online. Or rather, I *thought* it was online registration, but in reality it is a not terribly user-friendly webform that generates a printable form, on which I must calculate my total cost myself (wtf?) and then mail (yes, on paper and via the USPS) with a check. Ridiculous.

WOG. Thought I wasn't going to be able to go, but I managed to escape work and then seabass dropped me off. Missed most of the warmup running and stretching, but still got in a lap before everyone got back.

Today definitely felt a little more like work. We did 4x1 mile at 10 mile race pace with 600 recovery. I started in a group but eventually just ran with Diane, who claims to be slower (but I don't really believe it). We ran: 7:45, 7:44, 7:46, 7:45, or something very close to that. Pretty consistent, though we weren't quite that solid throughout each mile.

And that's it, with a little warm up, 4 strides, and a little cool down. Good workout.

Awesomeawesomeawesome! That's how I feel right now. No way I thought I could break 3730 today. Not in a million years. Kicks ass.

Everything about the morning was great, the actual result of the run is just part of it. I ran this race five years ago, about two months after I started running. It was my first real road race and then, too, it went way better than I expected. This is definitely going to be my good karma race.

Course twists and winds around the U of A campus. It's fun, and besides the fact that you pass near the finish twice before actually getting there, the serpentine nature of the route keeps you from succumbing to road race ennui.

Got up early but kind of forgot to eat early, so I had a banana 75 minutes before the start. Almost ate more but thought better of it - it was only 5 miles and it was definitely too close to start time to have more food. Turns out to have been a wise decision.

Okay, now about the run. I'd had such poor road results lately that I just wanted a solid and not stupid run. I figured 40 was a very reasonable goal. I started the first mile quite pumped because I was on campus, it was beautiful out (sunny and 50s), and I have lots of smiley memories being there. Extra motivated by the pep band playing "Bear Down Arizona". (Who'd a thunk that I was that sentimental?)

Sifted through the crowds on the first mile thinking that I was maybe a little slower than 8, but that that would be okay. Instead I hear the tracksters at the mile marker calling 7:20s... (I passed the start line about 10 sec after the gun). I was totally stunned, because it didn't feel like I was running that fast at all. Gotta love adrenaline. I didn't really decide to pull back for the second mile, but I was thinking that I should the whole time, especially since my legs were already a little quivery, so I guess that's why I pulled across so much slower. At that point I figured I was practically halfway there and hadn't cramped or stiffened up yet, so I might as well push. Worked for a mile but really started to slow even though I was pushing it for the fourth mile.

For those first four miles there was this sorority-looking girl within my sights wearing a baggy red cotton t-shirt and earbuds in her ears. I just felt like she shouldn't be in front of me. Last mile I finally creeped up on her and passed her with about 3/4 of a mile to go. We fought for a bit for the next half mile and she pulled ahead with about a 1/4 to go, and I was feeling more and more like I might not be able to keep my banana down. I thought she was going to stay ahead because she increased her lead, but as we rounded the corner to the finish chute I decided to kick it in. I crossed the finish line a footstep ahead of her (.2 seconds according to the results) and then jumped up and down because I'd broken 37:30... and then bent over and almost puked. I looked around and realized that there were a lot of people around me who really wouldn't have appreciated that, so I stood quite still and tried to relax and it worked. Of course, since I didn't puke, does that mean I really ran hard enough? ;-)

Marshall Gulch - Wilderness of Rocks - Mt Lemmon Lookout Trail - Mt. Lemmon Trail. At that point it was getting late-ish compared to our plan of getting them home early, so we wanted to get down quickly and ended up accidentally taking the powerline road, which wasn't pretty or fun. Stopped for pizza and cookie at the cookie cabin on the way down (I called an order ahead... definitely an advantage of hiking on a mountain with towers!)

Legs held up fine, I guess this was a good chance to loosen them up after the morning's effort.

More course work out at Box Canyon. It was really nice today in Tucson, high 80 all weekend (!) and it was therefore almost chilly at sundown up in the Santa Rita foothills. Out there longer, but this is time spent actually looking at the map and terrain.

Made good progress. I really like the map, Ludwig did a super job mapping the vegetation. And, of course, it's pretty fun, I just wish the seeds would go away. Grass was no longer green this weekend - what a quick change! There were patches that weren't yellow, but last weekend it was almost all green. Three weeks ago is was luscious.

Had a few size extremes today in the AOWN category. I'd been out there for almost three hours without seeing anything disturbing. Spooked some deer and a few bunnies and saw lots of hopping insects doing their hoppity hip hop thing. Then I saw this large web with, you guessed it, a really big ass spider in it. I shrieked a little, because it was really big and spooky looking, all these bright colors on it, and I'd never seen one of those before. But it was just one, so I turned to be on my way. Only now that my eyeballs were calibrated to these critters, I noticed that they were *everywhere*. It seems like every two blades of grass had one of these webs, and in each one was one of these suckers.

It was when I realized that I was surrounded by them that I said, "Joseph and Mary, mother of Jesus!" Except not really, since I long ago sinned all of the Catholic out of me, but I'm sure you get the idea. I surmised that these bad boys were not dangerous and decided not to look down and just to keep going. I have to say that I never really did get over it, and I did keep looking down, and I did keep seeing them, though I also learned what kind of vegetation to avoid. I have searched around for Arizona spiders and can not figure out what they are, though you can bet I'll post a nice, big picture when I do figure it out.

The second extreme was the teeniest tiniest little snake I've ever seen, dead on the road. I bet one of the spiders bit him.

Nice easy run back down to the car, just to loosen up. Hope this was an easy enough day before tomorrow's race. It would be nice to at least break 40.

Ride in for morning PT. Is it ironic that I can't go for a morning trail run because I have to go to work to exercise?
Cycling (indoor) 30:00 [1]
Didn't really feel like running on the road or track or (dog forbid) a treadmill, so I brought a book and sat on a bike. I really wanted some relax time, and that's what it was.
Note

Just for j-man, but don't take it personally.

Home! Three day weekend, baby.

I was in a hurry this morning to make it to PT on time, so no contacts.

Ride in, fantabulously early!
Cycling (road) 17:00
Ride home.

Stretching, etc.
Running (grass/dirt) 42:21 4.6 mi (9:12 / mi)
Nice WOG session. Ran a warmup lap, followed by very unguided stretching. Then a stadium lap to warmup fully for drills.

Four strides then drills, a bit faster than last time, making it more of a total workout, not just a bunch of short intense things separated. Then we did 4x200 with 200 rest. They were:

46, 77, 46, 75, 45, 80, 44, 85

And then just another stadium lap to cool down.

Yet another ridiculous connection tonight. Tucson is a small world!

Forgot the contacts report yesterday (are you sick of it yet?) - got them in, after almost giving up, but it was frustrating. Good news is that they felt great all day, actually better towards the end of the day. Flew today so no contacts.

In to work! Yessss! I love Mobility!
Cycling (road) 18:00 [2]
Ride home. I can smell Fall coming... weekend forecast is a-w-e-s-o-m-e. Hi of 81 on Saturday! (Yes, this is real excitement, in case you couldn't tell.)
Running (road/dirt) 31:30 [1] 2.74 mi (11:30 / mi)

Easy evening run with seabass, bike path. We ran there and most of the way around before we had to stop for knee issues (hers, not mine). Also had a little honey break in the middle. Not for me, obviously, since I do not like honey. ;-)

The night's a little warmer than it has been - upper 80's - and not quite as dry.

Legs felt quite good, very little indication that I ran hard yesterday. Good. But next time I guess I need to run harder.

Great night at WOG... Got home a bit on the late side from work and seabass dropped me off just after they'd finished stretching. Started with a warmup stadium lap followed by 20 min of the four-spoke hill + pond lap workout and then 2x 1 mile, with easy running between and after, and yadda yadda yadda.

I ran the hill loop much harder this week than last because I think I was being a bit of a pansy last time. Got through 5 hills and 4 pond laps by the 20 min mark. Legs felt pretty spent after that and we're all thinking (or maybe it was just me), "Ugh, I can't do two race-pace miles now..." But it's only 20 mins, and these are only miles, and it could be a really long race, and we're supposed to be tough. No idea what SlowMe could do, so I aimed (hoped?) for 7:30 on the first, faster on the second since we were supposed to do a negative split. 2 min easy jogging between. Ran the
first in 7:27 and the second in 7:22, which is satisfying after the hills, if not fast. I certainly feeling like I'm starting to regain (gain?) a bit of zippiness.

Satisfying workout, especially since people were complaining of the "humidity". (It was sprinkling for a bit, so it wasn't as dry as usual...)

... then hung out for a bit and rested while waiting to see if seabass would make it over to give me a ride home. She didn't, so I ran home... slowly. :-)

Contacts: I think I regressed. Took a really long time to get them in this morning + lots of swearing like a sailor.
Strength/Core (stretching) 10:00 [1]
Stretching before sleepy time.

Monday Oct 1

Cycling (road) 25:00 [2]
Ride in, friggin' early (4:30am). It rained (!) so it was not as refreshingly cool and dry as it has been.

Not cleared to fly with contacts yet, so no contacts report today. Terribly disappointing, I know.
Cycling (road) 18:00 [2]
Ride home. Long day. Whooeeee!
