First day of Western States Champs. It was going great until I boomed number 7 (about 15 min lost). After that I was discouraged, very thirsty, and tired. The map was just a jumble of lines and colors. Still, no big errors for the second half, but I didn't commit to route choices and probably lost of lot of time being hesitant. More in the analysis...

I think I can work to maintain the pace/feel that I had in the first half over an entire Red course. Some of it is most certainly conditioning.
