| No snow this afternoon, a little sun, pretty warm. So I scoped out some new territory, NW portion of the Sandias. Hiked up and over Juan Tabo Ridge via Piedra Lisa. Clouds a little dicey (threatening thunderstorms all afternoon) so I kept it short. I didn't want to be stuck on the wrong side of the ridge if a storm came.
Ran when I could, which wasn't too often - even going down it was often too steep to run comfortably. So it was mostly a brisk hike, which is just fine.

| Seabass was here the past few days making me finish up the current semester's work. Slavedriver. Rewarded with two movies:

| It's snowing. What the heck? I don't have clothes for this. All my warm stuff is already in Tucson. How Alanis. | ||

| This weekend's NMO meet in the east mtns was canceled. No chance to reschedule, so I went back out there to pick up controls and take down tape. It was a gorgeous day, sort of what you think of in dry, western mtns in the summer. Emphasis on dry. I was quite thirsty by the end of this.
Yesterday marked three years of indentured servitu...er, I mean, employment with the USAF. Today marks 13 years since Kurt Cobain's death. I tried to draw a parallel but it just wasn't happening for me.

| Headed over to the east mountains today for some terrain running. Really it was trail+terrain, since much of the area is too steep for running. I ran along Sulphur Canyon and Cienega Canyon Horse Bypass and hopped off to run some circles (or ovals) when it wasn't so steep. It was pretty nice out, 60's or so, though getting overcast.
Legs felt good, and amazingly my head didn't explode even though I was running through junipers. Orders update: It looks like it really was a mistake by Genius and she is going to fix it. Should have by now. I now feel about 90% confident that it will be fine. But I won't fully relax until I sign that paper. If I hadn't had a conversation on Thursday about people who'd been screwed by exactly this situation (and didn't manage to be unscrewed) I probably wouldn't be so worried. Meanwhile, time for some pizza.

| Well, my sister didn't find a man, but she did enjoy herself orienteering, which is actually a much more surprising result. That should tell you a bit about how confident we were that she'd have fun. If only she were hooked... she'd be sure to be kicking my ass in a year.
I tried to run today. I got all dressed up and everything. But I couldn't bring myself to get out the door. This is largely because I'm exhausted, which is a problem by itself, but also exacerbates any emotional fragilities. For those keeping score at home, my orders fiasco has gotten worse. I got a call Friday on the way to the airport. My orders were "fixed", I was happily informed. Only it turns out that in the process of fixing the date, the genius who works the orders changed the location. So, as of right now, the military personnel system thinks that I am going to Valdosta, GA instead of Tucson, AZ. This is, presumably, a fixable mistake. I'd rather not believe that this is on purpose, even though that is entirely plausible, because that would mean that they were trying to royally fuck with me, and that would make me angry. Once again, in the wide spectrum of "Ways the Military Can Fuck With You", this isn't really *that* bad, though certainly much worse than simply having a delay in moving. Nevertheless, it's quite upsetting. So, needless to say, I haven't signed the "fixed" orders and I am still in limbo status. I am going to get a lot of sleep and get in a good run tomorrow. I expect to be held to that. :-)
