Strength/Core (Yoga) 1:00:00 [2]
Morning yoga session at the hotel with my sister. It was a good class, the instructor gave us a good mix. She's obviously really into yoga, because she's getting married later today and still taught the class! (She'd already had her hair done.)

Went out for some skiing with the whole gang. Unfortunately, the mushy stuff from yesterday had frozen well overnight and it wasn't so great today. My mom and dad bailed after only a few minutes, and my sister and Lauren headed back up shortly thereafter. I thought they had bailed completely and returned their skis, but apparently not since they just walked in... I guess they found a flat meadow and goofed off for a while. Anyway, I figured it would be good HTFU training to hit the icy trails for a bit. I seemed to be the only one on skis, which makes sense. It really wasn't very good.

Foot felt fine, though I did whack my head with a ski after a particularly graceful faceplant, so it's not like it was a totally pain-free session.

XC Skiing 1:35:00 [2]

A tiny bit more snow last night, so today's ski started out pretty nice. Went out with mami again but I wanted to be able to go more, so we had a plan and she took a map so that I wouldn't have to yo so much on the yo-yoing. Kind of worked. I did still have to stop any time there was something mildly treacherous to make sure she'd get by, and then it turned out that the map is pretty bad.

We were the first skiers on most of the trails, which would have been great had the snowshoers stayed home, too. Those guys plodded all over the place. Really awesome. Mami skied for about 50 minutes and then headed in, I went out on the other side of the hotel and found the trails to be much worse off. And then it got pretty warm (close to 40) and the snow got mushy and I thought my foot was starting to bug me, so I went in. I think the foot thing was a figment of my imagination, because it didn't bother me at all once I got back to the hotel. I guess I'm just worried about it.

Cold is lingering, but not an issue anymore.

Only orienteering related activity today was the Swedish massage. I think that counts. Actually, I have been thinking about goals for next year, since it is almost that time again. First, though I'll have to face up to a critical examination of went right (and, more painfully, what went wrong) over the past year. It should be entertaining if nothing else.

But first, time to watch the Pats make history.

Got up to NH a little later than planned, but early enough to get out before dark. It snowed up here in the past day so there was actually fluffy stuff on the trails. Not a lot of it - lots of little streams that weren't covered - but plenty to make it fun. Yo-yo'd with mami again.

Foot felt just fine. It was bothering me a lot yesterday, when I didn't do anything except stand around and walk at the MFA, but today it feels pretty good. I've been taking more vitamin-I and I guess it's helping. Maybe? That would be really nice.

I think I should earn mad bonus points for being good and resisting the urge to play StepMania these past couple of days. Right now my mom is playing in the next room and I really really really want to play. Does the amount of will power required to rest count for anything? I think it should.

XC Skiing 57:00 [2]
(sick)
I didn't feel terribly awful this morning and I was basically fed up with not doing any exercise, so I went skiing. My mom and I went to Great Brook for some really not great snow... but the weather was awesome and it was skiing. I yo-yo'd in front of my mom for about 45 min, trying to help her with going up and down more comfortably (she can go on the flats just fine!). She was dead beat after that and went back to the car. I squeezed in another 10 min.

My foot bothered me for the first few minutes but after that I didn't really notice it. It doesn't seem to be so bad now. Maybe skiing is okay? Should I stop doing stuff?

The main actress was so good at being a completely disgusting human being that when the movie finished I gave a big "pbbbbttttt" and really wanted to take a shower.

Les Diaboliques (1)
Good good good.

I played a little bit of StepMania today with my mom and sis (we got my mom a dance pad) but not much because doing so aggravated the top of my right foot. It hurt a lot after the VFM, but so did everything else so I didn't pay too much attention to it. The pain went away almost completely with rest, just like all the soreness, and then came back pretty noticeably after walking around a bunch yesterday. It only hurt when the foot was flexed up, but now after some DDR it hurts all the time. I guess it's tendinitis in a brand new place. How exciting! At least it is very bearable pain... and I'm still sick and the snow stinks anyway, so I doubly don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.
