Long run from Anders' place on a brown + green 1:15000 map.

Delightful all around -- good company, fun course, great weather. In some places the lack of black and blue makes it a little harder but generally I enjoy the better readability without them (especially the black). We were four women (Synnøve(NO), Ina(FI), Joanna(SE)) and six men and we split up from the beginning. Alternated leading, I took 1, 8, 15, 17 (Joanna and I took the shortest variation so I could get back home).

I really enjoyed the pace today. Sometimes on runs like this everyone else's easy, cruising long pace is exhausting for me and I get dropped. That kind of sucks. This didn't suck. It was really fun and I was able to keep up with the map reading when I wasn't leading, successfully contributing to the "I think it's this lump right here" control point discussions.

Oh yay, still wet and gray!

In to work directly. Legs felt quite peppy but I can never really tell in this direction.

This was an almost shortest-route in run. I know it's theoretically possible to get to work in less than 32 minutes, without running, if I take the metro and time it perfectly: 10 minute walk, 14 minute ride, 4 minute walk. Since the metro by us only goes every 15 minutes that means that there's only a 4 minutes window out of each quarter hour where taking the metro will get me to work sooner than running directly. Going home is a different story.

Warmup from work to Bislett, then 3 minutes on the indoor track -- running partway round only to discover one half was closed off due to a water leak. So much for a sleeveless run today!

Running tempo (road) 36:36 intensity: (56 @0) + (10:11 @1) + (5:45 @2) + (12:46 @3) + (6:27 @4) + (31 @5) 6.34 km (5:46 / km) +173m 5:05 / km

Put my warmups back on and just did my workout on the way up home instead. 2x[10' tempo + 2'E]. I think I managed to get a good thresholdy feel.

It was raining (again) and I was really rocking the drowned rat look when I got home.

In to work. I clearly haven't adapted to the concept of spring, probably because it's all damp and dreary out. Overdressed, even for an easy downhill run on a cloudy, 5 degree morning. Necessitated a shower when I got to work which is just annoying. Don't get me wrong, I love a hot shower, I just love a hot shower more if it's my own hot shower and I can hang around naked afterwards. This is a casual place to work but not quite that casual.

Oslo City Cup #1

Wooooo OCC yeah! The true sign that the O season is beginning in Oslo.

New map, decent weather, good course (+3). I brought Helen along and she did the rekrutt course and had fun (+2). Hanne had illegal shoes with her so I loaned her my road shoes so she could run (+1). I made all the possible sprint mistakes on the leg to #2 (-5). Still ended up in positive territory!

Other than #2 I had a pretty good sprint flow going and my legs felt pretty good. Once I had botched that leg I figured my race was now from #3 to the end and ran strong to the end -- I felt like I had more mental and physical stamina than in the past, though my brain was certainly tired at the end.

Results

Sounds like Hausken made the same mistakes I did on #2 so I guess I am in good company. But still. Tsk, tsk. Can't forget about contours on a sprint map.

Ran 10 minutes ~steady state and then a bit of shuffling. I made sure to take a trip up that stupid path.

In to work, nice and easy and with a bigger pack than I would have liked, as I didn't have any clothes at work. Kind of a dreary morning.

We're now convinced that, this time, the little dude really is teething. I don't think it's worth it. He's functioned just fine without teeth for the first 8 months of his life, why change? The disruption to everyone's sleep seems disproportionate to the advantages.
