Orienteering 1:04:07 intensity: (11 @0) + (21:38 @1) + (39:30 @2) + (2:48 @3) *** 4.63 km (13:51 / km) +40m 13:16 / km

O in Sweden after breakfast in Copenhagen. I did a wee bit of orienteering to find some of the controls the suckers actually *running* Tiomila are going to have to find tomorrow.

Running intervals (road) 52:32 intensity: (5:13 @1) + (23:50 @2) + (16:08 @3) + (6:08 @4) + (1:13 @5) 9.43 km (5:34 / km)
ahr:160 max:185 shoes: Kara (Roadclaw 275 V2)

Warmed up on the Cambridge side and then 3xmile on the Boston side, with 400m recoveries. Supposed to be a cut down run straddling 10k pace and I did manage to increase the pace for each, even though the middle one was into the wind. Last one around 7:15, which is not fast but it is encouraging that I could do it and not feel like I was using everything up. Starting to feel like a runner again.

Saw Ari running the other way during my headwind mile, both of us squeezing in a workout before heading to the Sox game. The game was very 2019 Red Sox, unfortunately.

Note

Whut. Pollen? I feel like I am at 25% operating capacity today.

Note

I rode to and from class in the extra wet rain and now I am not only awake but highly energized. It would be impressive if the rain had such an immediate effect on pollen levels. I should probably find out if that’s really the problem.

Running tempo (road/trail) 1:03:50 intensity: (28 @0) + (11:12 @1) + (13:30 @2) + (19:10 @3) + (18:34 @4) + (56 @5) 11.63 km (5:29 / km) +11m 5:28 / km
ahr:162 max:186 shoes: Kara (Roadclaw 275 V2)

Progression run: 20min easy, 20min moderate, 20min tempo. We parked at the playground and I ran from there to Assabet, so the first quarter and last quarter were on pavement and the middle 30 minutes or so on trails. Felt great for the first 40 but found it very difficult to tick up the pace one more time. I did, but it was neither tempo pace (too slow) nor tempo effort (too hard). Fitness isn’t there yet to be able to do this after forty minutes of running.

Humid out.
