To Sudbury town center and back, ploddingly. My body gut has absolutely not recovered yet from the stomach bug and I don't think I'm absorbing very many nutrients. That meant I was pleasantly surprised when I started running and had some energy, even for the climb up Goodmans Hill, but that pleasantness was shattered halfway through the run when my body was like, "nope, that was enough" and I struggled to make it back home, even though most of it was down.
In other news, I think the lingering background sickness I've been fighting is gone, and I am 95% sure that's because it was self-inflicted stress illness. I was working on a project at work that was essential for handling the crush of Black Friday/Cyber Monday. I knew I was a stressed about it but I didn't realize how stressed until I first deployed it and tested it out last Sunday and almost broke into tears with relief that it was working.
I think the reason I didn't realize how much pressure I was putting on myself was because I was excited about the project and enjoyed the work a lot, and there wasn't a lot of explicit external pressure - the question I heard most from the CTO was, "how can I support you?" I was able to offload sub-tasks to other devs and I kept feeling like I was getting a lot done.
And then things took longer than expected, as they always do, and Lukas got sick, and then, all of a sudden we weren't going to get to test it out for a week as we'd hoped, but more like 2 days. Thankfully, and thanks in no small part to people fixing stuff up on Monday while I was puking/in bed (I would get occasional Slack messages about pieces of code, answer, then put my phone away and continue to whine about how awful I felt), it all worked beautifully, better than I had imagined, and my mysterious illness disappeared.
The moral of the story is that I need to pay more attention to my own mental state -- I could absolutely have had more help had I asked, and I now have a better idea about how things work, so it'll easier to figure out what I can offload. Time to take better care of myself!
The SprintSeries DOMA is broken after my hosting service upgraded my host or something. I know it's broken, I've tried to fix it and it's still broken, and that's as far as I'm going to get. If anyone is an expert with PHP and MySQL and wants to help me figure out why it can no longer connect to the db I'm happy for help. Otherwise it's going to stay broken indefinitely.

A short and easy outing on the SVT and Water Dept land behind the middle school. It's not a very big area but I wasn't planning to run very long and it turns out it was big enough for my needs. Incredibly relieved to feel good running.
While passing behind the school, which I attended for two years decades ago, it occurred to me that I had no idea back then that there were trails there. I actually don't know that there were trails back then but it wouldn't have mattered, I wouldn't have had a clue. I certainly would never have considered *running* on such trails even had I known of their existence. In fact, I would have thought it was absolutely nuts to go running just for fun, trails or no trails. People change.
