Sunday Aug 15

running 10:00 [1]
warmup
orienteering 1:03:22 [3]
spiked:21/25c
ran Ocross course in Carcross. No big mistakes. a couple of small ones. some problems with the trails and not knowing where I was. The rest was just hesitation around control. Much better obviously if there where flags there. Didn't run it at race pace. much of it was in zone (1-2) but a lot was so detailed that I couldn't have run faster anyway.
mountain biking 45:00 [1]
along ridge behind Copper Ridge

Saturday Aug 14

run to work
orienteering 45:00 [2]
spiked:11/11c
Ear Lake. planning ahead and frequent map reading. kind of thick and slashy so difficult to read the map a lot. CAR before leaving control. Pretty good session. I managed to do most of those things well. A couple of times I took longer planning before leaving the control but mostly it went well.

Wednesday Aug 11

running 40:00 [2]
around Copper ridge-paddy's
orienteering 55:00 [1]
hanging controls at Bmeet

Tuesday Aug 10

running 1:15:00 [1]
easy run on ski trails. upset stomach so cut it short.

Monday Aug 9

orienteering 1:15:00 [2]
Hanging flags for wed night with Ian and Liz. Nice because I vetted course and got to run with some controls out there.

Sunday Aug 8

orienteering 1:05:00 [2]
spiked:6/9c
Ran old WCOC course on Long Lake. I wanted to be safe with very good route choices and lots of reading ahead and being sure. I clearly wasn't doing this on the ones where I made mistakes. HOt and terrain running so HR a bit high. (3) at times. Nice swim in the lake with Pippa and Erin after

Saturday Aug 7

orienteering 1:35:00 [2]
spiked:23/27c
Control picking on Magnusson with Pippa and Forest. Really trying to be clean and sure- systematic. Not reading ahead as well as I could. Some controls were good but others weren't great. Just bobbles for mistakes. Went slowly but HR was up because of hills and deep moss bushes and slash.

Tuesday Aug 3

orienteering 55:00 [2]
hobbled around behind Pippa when she was doing her intervals in the terrain. still very sore.

Sunday Aug 1

running 3:01:30 [4] 26.1 mi (6:56 / mi)
Yukon River Trail Marathon. Had a good run. very conservative at the beginning. good thing I was. It was super hilly and tough especially at the end. 1st overall. Ryan's course record is 2:58. Pretty pleased to be that close to it. His PB for a regular road marathon is under 2:35 so I think my run may be equivalent to a ~2:40. Of course I don't think I could stand up to the pounding of a road marathon without training on the pavement-yuck! not gonna happen.
running 5:00 [1]
warmup
