Trail run 1:08:17 [3] 7.0 mi (9:45 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Out/back Quigley. Slow-dog run in slow conditions feeling slow. Rather forget this one, but I'm logging it just the same.

Friday Feb 27, 2009 #

Road run 4:09:40 [3] 23.0 mi (10:51 / mi) +4000ft 9:19 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

River Run Baldy loop then Elkhorn with Juniper Rd, Ind Crk, and Morningstar and back through town to River Run. No gels; just PB&J and Cliff Bars. Felt good. 15 minutes faster than when I did it in Jan; paths were clearer, though.

Climb up Baldy a little tough with a lot of soft snow from yesterday. Good run down.

86 miles, if stopped the week today. Ready for a slow taper to Coyote.

Thursday Feb 26, 2009 #

Trail run 1:03:00 [3] 7.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Really challenging run out/back Quigley on 5 inches new with hard-blowing snow.

Wednesday Feb 25, 2009 #

Trail run 59:37 [3] 7.0 mi (8:31 / mi) +1200ft 7:20 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Second Carbo run of the year. A lot better than three weeks ago. Started at school. Walked up gully to switchbacks, then up and over cornice to Jeep trail up to ridge--not quite to flag. Most of it's clear, with some long sections of snow. Probably 5 - 6 minutes slower round trip than mid season. Don't think I'd do it late in the day after thawing.

Felt good. Ready for repeats.

Trail run 44:23 [3] 5.0 mi (8:53 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

(Evening) Slow-dog run out to Deadman's and back on softened snow.

Tuesday Feb 24, 2009 #

Trail run 1:09:20 [3] 8.0 mi (8:40 / mi) +1000ft 7:45 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Tedious run out/back Quigley to Deadman's on rain-softened snow. Went up Deadman's climb a bit. Decent game trail for a lot of it.

Monday Feb 23, 2009 #

Trail run 1:02:30 [3] 7.0 mi (8:56 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Out/back Quigley on new snow. Slow and a tad hard. Felt a bit beat up this morning. Must mean I'm on track.

Sunday Feb 22, 2009 #

Road run 1:36:00 [3] 12.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Out/back Warm Springs starting at WS lodge. Knee good.

Trail run 42:00 [3] 5.0 mi (8:24 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

(evening) Twilight run out/back Quigley to Deadmans. Snow pretty slick.

Fairly happy with the week's miles post Red Hot and missing Monday.

Saturday Feb 21, 2009 #

Road run 1:39:36 [3] 12.5 mi (7:58 / mi) +800ft 7:31 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

YMCA out/back past Morningstar in the afternoon. Felt harder than yesterday. Knee pretty good.

Friday Feb 20, 2009 #

Road run 2:47:50 [3] 21.0 mi (8:00 / mi) +1500ft 7:29 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Trail Creek (with a couple miles on snow past path), Elkhorn loop down to Lane Ranch, with Independence Crk. Save the Lane Ranch tundra, paths clear and fast. Felt really good.

Three weeks to Coyote. Watchwords: sodium, fluids, patience.

Thursday Feb 19, 2009 #

Trail run 58:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:17 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Out/back Quigley. Hands really cold for first 15 minutes.

Tuesday Feb 17, 2009 #

Road run 47:00 [3] 6.0 mi (7:50 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Easy Old Cutters loop. Felt quite good. Still, going to take it easy next number of days, before a final hard bit of training before C2M.

Monday Feb 16, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Took day off and skied Soldier with the boys. Left upper hamstring a bit sore from all that rock hopping and cherry picking at Red Hot.

Sunday Feb 15, 2009 #

Road run 45:00 [3] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)
(rest day) shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Recovery run around Moab before heading home to chaos.

Trail run 5:21:00 [3] 34.0 mi (9:26 / mi) +4500ft 8:23 / mi

Red Hot 50k+. Challenging course. Generally satisfied. Nice to get away from the snow.

Note

Also walked 4 miles in Arches National Park after race.

Friday Feb 13, 2009 #

Travel day to Red Hot.

Wednesday Feb 11, 2009 #

Trail run 1:00:30 [3] 7.0 mi (8:39 / mi)

Good, easy feeling run out/back Quigley again on some loose snow. Glad Moab's coming up. Definitely ready for something different.

Tuesday Feb 10, 2009 #

Trail run 1:04:00 [3] 7.0 mi (9:09 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Flat-light, new-snow slow run out/back Quigley.

Monday Feb 9, 2009 #

Trail run 56:27 [3] 7.0 mi (8:04 / mi)
weight:152lbs shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Quigley out/back. Knee a bit stiff, but legs felt good.

Note

Moab's not looking like the 55 and sunny I was hoping for. 42 and rain/snow seems more likely.

Sunday Feb 8, 2009 #

Road run 56:00 [3] 7.5 mi (7:28 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Rotarun out/back Croy. Felt pretty good.

Note

Trying to not be concerned with the drop in hours/miles. Just doing what I think is best for the knee with Red Hot Saturday then 4 weeks until Coyote.

Saturday Feb 7, 2009 #

Trail run 57:30 [3] 7.0 mi (8:13 / mi)
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (B)

Out/back Quigley. Pretty rough near pond and beyond. Felt pretty good after a slow warmup.

Note

Holy Crap! Made it into Wasatch Front. http://www.wasatch100.com/selected09.htm

Friday Feb 6, 2009 #

Road run 3:00:00 [3] 21.0 mi (8:34 / mi) +1800ft 7:56 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (A)

21+ miles Trail Creek/Elkhorn, with Independence Crk and Juniper Rd. Tried Parker but not plowed. Knee hurt at times but did OK. Ice and 2 aspirin, and it feels pretty good. One week until Red Hot; not quite sure what to do over the next 7 days.

Thursday Feb 5, 2009 #

Trail run 1:06:00 [3] 6.0 mi (11:00 / mi) +1200ft 9:15 / mi

Wednesday Feb 4, 2009 #

Trail run 55:48 [3] 7.0 mi (7:58 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 320

Out/back Quigley after two days off -- one planned, one not. Legs felt spry; knee a bit tight. Snow compact and smooth; as good as it gets for winter.

Monday Feb 2, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Planned day off to rest knee a bit before Red Hot and the final build up to C2M. Home with sick child, so worked out well.

Sunday Feb 1, 2009 #

Road run 1:37:38 [3] 12.0 mi (8:08 / mi) +600ft 7:46 / mi
shoes: Asics Gel-Trail Sensor (A)

Same route as yesterday. Almost exact same time. Knee hurt at times. May take tomorrow off.

Relatively easy week. May do same next to let knee heal a bit.

Very happy with 320 miles in January.
