Going to take a full week off to let things heal a bit after Bighorn. Feel pretty good, though.

My first hundred. Despite picking my way home from 70 on, it all went well: Gear, fluids, calories. Pretty happy with it all. Now for a little troubleshooting here and there.

Friday Jun 5, 2009 #

Trail run 5:10:00 [3] 29.0 mi (10:41 / mi) +7000ft 8:42 / mi
shoes: Gel-Trail Sensor 2 (B)

A very fun, if totally wet, day on the trails. Adams, Fox Creek, Oregon. Did Fox CCW, which I actually liked more than doing it CW, when you have to take on the long flatish sections after returning from Oregon.

Found the first hour and half tedious, until I hit the Oregon trails. Steady, hard rain for the second and third hours, which made things a bit slower than usual, as did the bushwhacking I had to do twice to avoid the cow moose and yearling right on Harpers near Lake Creek. Saw Landis on Fox Creek.

Nutrition good; knees OK. Last 5+ hour effort ahead of Bighorn.

Note

"Dawn. Saffron light over all the earth."

My favorite line from yesterday's audio Iliad - Book 8; largley because of its simple beauty; in part because it contrasted so much with the conditions.

Easy evening run after trip to Twin. Home--CW Vorberg--Home. Climb felt as easy as it ever has. Blood sugar really dropped on the descent, had to pick my way down.

Need my new shoes.

Trail run 54:00 [3] 7.0 mi (7:43 / mi)

Quigley had it all today: wind, rain, thunder, highschoolers shooting guns, a beautiful gray crane, and a rare tailwind heading home. Felt good.
