Trail run 1:37:00 [3] 11.5 mi (8:26 / mi) +1500ft 7:30 / mi
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Vorberg from home with Brad. Felt good overall, but no zip on the climb. CW loop: 1:06. Again, Brad was kind to hang back with me on the climb.

Sunday Aug 30, 2009 #

Trail run 24:00 [3] 3.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Tried to run early evening but the lightening was close-in and frequent. So had to turn around. Bit frustrating.

Saturday Aug 29, 2009 #

Trail run 3:45:00 [3] 20.0 mi (11:15 / mi) +6200ft 8:42 / mi
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Double Baldy. Lots of people but not too bad at the relaxed pace. Second climb was a bit tough but last downhill felt good. Went through 5 bottles, filling up one on the second climb.

Lap 1 (1:51)
Climb: 1:09
Descent: 42:00

Lap 2 (1:51)
Climb: 1:12
Descent: 39:00

Foot tight at first. Pretty good after that.

Note

About 15k of climbing over the last 7 days. Pretty much exactly what I wanted after the injury time off and flatland running last week. Just need to do upkeep seasoning here on out until WF

Friday Aug 28, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Foot needed a day off.

Thursday Aug 27, 2009 #

Trail run 1:45:00 [3] 12.0 mi (8:45 / mi) +1500ft 7:49 / mi
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Vorberg from home with Brad. Legs totally leaden today. Was expecting it some time this week. Brad was kind enough to hang back. Great to chat. Foot was OK.

Wednesday Aug 26, 2009 #

Trail run 1:52:00 [3] 12.0 mi (9:20 / mi) +1100ft 8:35 / mi
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

AG direct to Harpers then Fox Crk loop then back. A bit of a guess on miles and vert. Foot wasn't great.

Tuesday Aug 25, 2009 #

Trail run 1:38:00 [3] 10.0 mi (9:48 / mi) +3100ft 7:35 / mi
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Baldy. Never felt great but got a PR on the climb. Thought I might get in under an hour, but with 1.5 to go seemed to feel the flat running at sea level last week. Descent OK save for a halting final mile. Foot was good.

Climb: 1:00:46
Descent: 37:30

Monday Aug 24, 2009 #

Trail run 1:30:30 [3] 11.0 mi (8:14 / mi) +1500ft 7:17 / mi
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Early evening Home--Vorberg (CW)--Home. A bit tired on the climb; didn't fight it too much. Good descent. Wildcats felt good. Foot like yesterday, sore at first, mostly OK after that.

Loop (lot to lot): 1:07

Sunday Aug 23, 2009 #

Trail run 1:28:00 [3] 11.0 mi (8:00 / mi) +1500ft 7:05 / mi
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Home--Vorberg (CCW)--Home. Good to be out of the car but hard to get out the door. Good effort. Climb almost as fast as last Saturday but felt a lot harder. Foot sore first part but not bad after that.

Climb (Parking lot to mineshaft): 26:49
Loop (Lot to lot): 1:05

Saturday Aug 22, 2009 #

Note

Day off for foot. Sore enough I thought it would be prudent.

Friday Aug 21, 2009 #

Road run 1:13:00 [3] 10.0 mi (7:18 / mi)
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Another run on the BG. Need to get back to the singletrack. Felt good after yesterday. Foot a little sore.

Note

Three weeks until Wasatch.

Road run 2:41:00 [3] 20.0 mi (8:03 / mi)
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

For a few reasons, scuttled Mt Si and stuck closer to home base. Road run on the Burke-Gilman again. Felt OK, esp given how I felt in general yesterday. Foot held up pretty well. Zinged me at the turnaround but settled back pretty quickly. Ice ice footbath, baby.

Wednesday Aug 19, 2009 #

Road run 1:20:00 [3] 10.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Easy Burke-Gilman. Bit under the weather. First double digits since the foot went south.

Tuesday Aug 18, 2009 #

Note

Just one of those chock-full family vacation days. Couldn't really fit in a run. Beautiful day in Seattle.

Monday Aug 17, 2009 #

Road run 55:45 [3] 8.0 mi (6:58 / mi)
shoes: La Sportiva Wildcat (A)

Nice road run on the Burke-Gilman. Middle 6 at tempo (39:18).

Sunday Aug 16, 2009 #

Road run 59:49 [3] 8.0 mi (7:29 / mi)
shoes: Gel-Trail Sensor 2 (C)

Saturday Aug 15, 2009 #

Trail run 1:03:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:52 / mi) +1500ft 6:41 / mi

Roclite 320

Good feeling Vorberg today (CCW). Good effort on the climb but not cross-eyed.

Parking lot to parking lot: 1:02:52
Parking lot to mine: 26:37 (PR)

Must be rested. Foot good for most of it.

Friday Aug 14, 2009 #

Trail run 56:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

(shoes) Roclite 320

Guigley easy. Quads a bit sore. Foot OK.

Thursday Aug 13, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Taking the day off, per doctor's orders. Got that cortisone shot. Hope springs eternal, even if bolstered by big pharma...

Wednesday Aug 12, 2009 #

MTB (mountain bike) 1:10:01 [3] 14.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Mountain bike out Quigley.

Tuesday Aug 11, 2009 #

MTB (mountain bike) 36:00 [3] 7.0 mi (5:09 / mi)

Quigley on mountain bike. Turned around early because right cleat wasn't set correctly and knee started to hurt a bit. Been three years since I'd used those shoes. Came back singletrack. Glad nobody saw me flailing out there.

Trail run 41:00 [3] 4.0 mi (10:15 / mi)

Roclite 320s

Carbo spine to flag. Down switchbacks easy. Just wanted to see where things were. Foot could have been much worse. Will see what it feels like tomorrow.

Monday Aug 10, 2009 #

MTB (speedskate) 51:00 [3] 13.0 mi (3:55 / mi)

Digging even deeper into the archives. Broke out the old inline speedskates and took them out on the bike path. A danger to myself and others. Out/back to just before the bridge before East Fork.

Sunday Aug 9, 2009 #

MTB (road ride) 1:15:00 [3] 21.0 mi (3:34 / mi)

Good road ride with Brad. Nice to get out and work the legs. Probably been two years since I'd been on the Paramount. Stayed upright.

Saturday Aug 8, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Friday Aug 7, 2009 #

Trail run 41:00 [3] 5.5 mi (7:27 / mi)
shoes: Gel-Trail Sensor 2 (C)

Tried to do home Vorberg home, but foot turned pretty painful by the Shelter so turned around.

Whole thing out of no where. Hasn't bothered me at all since before Bighorn.

Thursday Aug 6, 2009 #

Road run (track) 1:45:00 [3] 10.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Hyperspeed2

Another good session planned by Coach Mitchell (Thanks, Brad). Paces could have been more consistent. Swirling, stiff winds made it hard at times to keep things steady.

Good turnout. 8 total, I think.

1.5 mile warm up, with run from house
1 mile with 4x200 strides
Bounding drill x 2 (800m)
2x800 (2:49, 2:54)
2x1200 (4:18, 4:24)
2x1600 (6:12, 6:19) (tempo pace, with 1min rest)
2x1200 (4:21, 4:21)
2x800 (2:47, 2:50)
800m cool down

Wednesday Aug 5, 2009 #

Trail run 56:00 [3] 7.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Gel-Trail Sensor 2 (B)

Quigley. Felt OK.

Tuesday Aug 4, 2009 #

Trail run 1:26:00 [3] 10.5 mi (8:11 / mi) +700ft 7:42 / mi
shoes: Gel-Trail Sensor 2 (B)

Quigley corral. Sluggish.

Sunday Aug 2, 2009 #

Trail run 2:38:00 [3] 14.0 mi (11:17 / mi) +2300ft 9:46 / mi
shoes: Gel-Trail Sensor 2 (B)

Great AG big loop with Brad and AJW. Really nice morning, except for almost getting dropped on Pork Chop 15 minutes in.

Saturday Aug 1, 2009 #

Trail run (HIKE) 7:00:00 [3] 12.0 mi (35:00 / mi) +5000ft 25:06 / mi
shoes: Gel-Trail Sensor 2 (B)

HIKE/SCRAMBLE/CLIMB to the top of Hyndman Peak (elev 12009) with K. "Scramble" doesn't really do justice to that last .75 climb to the top. Perfect day.

Kickin' it at the top: http://twitpic.com/cgkjl
