Start of the Arrowhead 135. 7AM in I Falls temp -9 degrees in town a reported -14 out on the trail at sunrise. Ran the first 18 miles to Hwy 53 crossing, being the first person on foot to cross. After Hwy 53 I mostly race walked with a little bit of running down the hills. J Storkamp caught up to me a mile or 2 before Gateway checkpoint at mile 35. Stayed at checkpoint about 1:15 trying to get clothes to dry (longer than I wanted to stay). Left chekpoint at ~5 PM got to Blackduck shelter (mile 58) at midnight and bivyed for a few hours.
