Running race 13:35:00 [5] 62.0 mi (13:09 / mi)

Wild Duluth 100k From Duluth's Bayfront park to Jay Cooke's Oldenberg point and back.
Tied for 3rd overall with Darren.
Started out with a group about 6 or so and a couple took off up front which left 4 of us for awhile. Than Matt Aro tok off up front also. Which left 3 of us and I eventually dropped off the back. At the turnaround Matt Aro was in the first one in. The 2 early leaders had disappeared. I got to the turnaround at almost exactely 6 hours. Changed my socks and ate some food and left within 10 or 15 minutes. Felt great till the Grand Portage check point on the way back, my left knee started hurting after that (swollen and hard to bend) and got worse thru the rest of the race. Felt like I was able to keep up a pretty good pace till Ely's peak. also had some stomach problems, get kinda of sick of HEED and HEED Gels. Towards the end was drinking only water and eating only real food when available (cookies, PB and J, fruit) . Had hoped to avg 12 minute miles but ended up averaging 13:08 minute miles.
My GPS batteries died at 52.25 miles. At that time I had averaged 12.53 mins per mile and had done about 1500 feet ascending
