Very windy run. Headwind up the road really took down the pace. Nearly got blown off the top of Bolts Law. Then part of the descent with a head wind was interesting, floating down the hill.

Very pleasant run interrupted after 10 minutes by seeing a red squirrel in Deborah plantation. Red squirrels are scarce in County Durham, in fact the county is often excluded when the few English locations of reds are listed. How much longer they'll be here is hard to tell as greys are sighted frequently.

A bit of a dog's breakfast!

I planned to do CS1R on what was a very windy day. The air temperature wasn't too bad but I got as far as the barn before turning back for a windproof after feeling the wind-chill. Setting off again with a fleece-lined windproof I got half way up the road stretch before the weather turned to driving hail. The windproof demonstrated its lack of waterproofness quite quickly! I carried on as far as Packlet's Gate running into a biting headwind with the hail stinging my face. At the gate I decided to just turn back along the road rather than head off-road. At least if the weather got me a passing motorist might find my body! Of course it was all blue skies and sunshine 15 minutes later as I reached home. An interesting half hour.
