Recovery run to soften up my legs before the 5k on Tuesday

started at bottom of hackthorn road up to takahe then to kiwi then around and along front of sugarloaf to some random track kinda opposite bowenvale down there and back to the car, got called McSpeedy by some crazy girl. But I think she is nuts anyway.

CROESUS CROSSING RACE

Was feeling a bit crap in the morning on the bus ride over, had 3 painkillers and hoped that my Migraine would go away.

Took off fairly quickly at the start, flying up the hill in 8th place. I know Robert Jarvis had been thoroughly briefed by Joe on the "Tim Farrant blow up", and was probably close behind waiting for me to slow down!

Passed one guy on the way up the zig-zags, and the first woman overtook me for a little while - but I wasn't letting her get away! I ate a Moro and kept pace with her up the hill, then raced past her just before the bushline. 7th to the top of the mountain at about 1:10. Flew along the tops, passing half the field in front of me.

When I got to the hut (1:30?) I was offered lollies and a drink. I mistook the lollies cup for the drink, and ended up drinking a jetplane, a snake, and a black jellybean!

Ran like a man possessed on the downhill. Tripped over on a couple of rocks and ended up flat on my chest. Yelled at myself to "Get Up, Just Get Up Right Now!" Did so, and then surveyed the new bruises I was developing. Had a Leppin about 5minutes from the first bridge, and then another just after the last bridge.

Hit the road at 2:34. Went hard for the last 7km, and got cheered on by Aaron at 2km to go. Used up the last of my water about here. Finished 3:02:20, but really wanted to crack 3hours!

Got 4th overall, (3rd MU40). Robert came in 5th - I was stoked to get to cheer him in calling "Go Dad, well done Dad!"

Cut 26minutes of last years' time, but I'm not sure that my run on Wednesday was ideal preparation as my legs were still a bit fatigued at the start. All in all I was very happy with my run, but will need to come back next year to break the elusive 3hour mark!
