This was an idea we got from the Holland 5 days although we didn't try it there. We made a maze out of tape and put 20 controls in the maze. There were 3 diffirent courses (only 2 infact, as I had made a mess of copying the maps) however as Quirky said you couldn't even tell that you were repeating yourself.
It certainly didn't seem to help the fact that I had planned it, although I did do it a few months ago. The most difficult thing was locating your next control on your map and I found that I couldn't read upside down. If you wasted 10secs at each control doing this then you would lose over 3mins on each run. I couldn't plan ahead as I was too busy concentrating on where to go without banging into someone.
It was good that it was done in the dark as you then couldn't see the maze and needed to use the map but I wonder what the locals thought with about 30 torches weaving around a 24x24 square.
