Orienteering at Eldor. Had made a fun course on the good part of the map. Struggled a bit to keep up the concentration, but got lost only once.

Orienteering race 2:47:00 [3]

Blodslitet. One of Norway's biggest races. Ultra long, with more than 2000 participants. The M21 course was 26.2k, and I started out pretty well. Was 11th after the first 15k of forked loops, but got seriously tired and dropped down to 17th. Had cramps in the calves and in the hamstrings, but nothing to serious. All in all a good race, with good technical performance.

Østerøya Rundt in Sandefjord. 10k mass start. Got in the lead together with Eirik W, and ran away from him, but made stupid mistakes so a bunch of other guys picked me up again. Then ran together with Øyvind W over the last few controls, and lost the battle for the victory.

Fun race, and legs were good. Lost too much time on mistakes!

Back home for the weekend, and just behind our house there was an orienteering race. Mass start, the first part was "nan-O", i.e. supersmall orienteering on a ~1:1000 scale map. Then it was "retr-O", on an old map, and the last part was normal orienteering. Some really extreme climbs, but felt good and ran fast.

The prize for winning was a can of beer :-)

Tunevannet rundt. Results here.

To get some training for Blodslitet, we decided to show up in Tunevannet Rundt. A mass start race in Sarpsborg. Had to spend eons untying my shoe laces, so did not have too much time for warm up, but started hard anyway.

The first 3 kilometers were pure running on roads, to get to the forest. Placed myself in the lead, together with Emil Wingstedt and a few others. At the second control we were a group of 6 runners alone in the lead. Struggled hard in the upphills, but ran like a madman in the technical parts, and picked them up again every time. Got alone about halfway, and then ran with Håvard Lucasen and Per Olaussen. Thought we were running for the 4th place, but suddenly we met Wingstedt again, and then it became fun :-)

Sprinted the best I could over the last kilometers, but Håvard and Emil were a little bit too fast. Good stuff anyway!!!
