Note

Moved mulch for about an hour from the elderly neighbor's driveway in lieu of the core workout. I am all tuckered out.

Saw a rose-breasted grosbeak in the back yard this evening during dinner. Had to look it up in the book since it was the first time I had ever see one. Very nice.

Orienteering race (West Point Green Day 2) 1:57:06 [4] *** 5.88 km (19:55 / km) +205m 16:58 / km
shoes: Ice Bugs - Red Storm

Errors on two controls today - I guess that is an improvement, but the second one was huge... #7 was ~5 minutes - on the right level for the cliff, lost confidence, went lower, had to climb back up. #10 was ~20 minutes - no idea where I was crossing the swamp, visited everything but the road - oh, how stupid!! Also drifted into the finish a little - witnesses galore including my hubby with the camera.

Note

So, my AOWN incidents were yesterday - a big black snake - missed stepping on it by ~6". ANd then 3 deeer romping though the water/swamp. I thought it was a route choice by a fellow competitor until I saw it was the deer...

Orienteering race (WP Day 1 Green) 2:12:34 [3] *** 5.49 km (24:09 / km) +275m 19:19 / km
shoes: Ice Bugs - Red Storm

Three major errors - #6, 8, and 10. About 25 minutes in errors.

Orienteering race (WP Sprint) 26:02 [3] *** 2.2 km (11:50 / km)
shoes: Saucony 7 - Banana 1

Poor to #1 - relocated from 4. Also #5. ABout 3-4 minutes in errors.

Reached down and removed a tick from between my shoulder blades while working the sprint. Then another off my collar bone after dinner. That one took a chunk out of me, and the area is painful right now. But then I am a wuss.

Running (Neighborhood loop) 41:00 [2] 4.1 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Saucony - Big Blue 1

Same route and pace as yesterday, though I did the out & back parts in reverse order. Felt good. Lots of stuff blowing in the wind, but it didn't bother me today. Probably later on I will feel the affects...

Walking warm up/down 9:00 [1] 0.55 mi (16:22 / mi)
shoes: Saucony - Big Blue 1

Same route home as well - powered up the hill at the end again. No yard work today - just laundry and packing.

Running (Neighborhood loop) 41:00 [2] 4.1 mi (10:00 / mi)
slept:3.0 weight:178lbs shoes: Saucony - Big Blue 2

A warmup run before spreading fertilizer (organic) on the lawn. Felt good, though glad to be finishing where I did. Overcast, so the 80+ F didn't feel too bad.

Walking warm up/down 9:00 [1] 0.55 mi (16:22 / mi)
shoes: Saucony - Big Blue 2

Walk from Walter Reed, bike path, hill to house. Did not stop even once on the way up it!

Follwed up with .35 mile worth of trips back and forth on the lawn (not included).
