| Trail Run (Hemlock) 46:00 [3] 3.45 mi (13:19 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Icebugs Sky Blue | ||
| Started at ~8:30, about 30 minutes later than intended. Ran from Hemlock down to the soccer fields.
Trails moist, but generally not sloppy. However, lots of trees down below Hemlock, and some other flooding debris. Tired from yesterday.

| Repeated a portion of the EX2 race event from a couple of weeks ago, where I tried to go off trail as much as possible. I used a different compass, and paid attention to it, and though my routes weren't optimal, I did know where I was the whole time when I was off trail, and I came back out to the trail where I wanted to come out. Cut 11:30 off of the time between the CP and the finish versus the last time. | ||

| Trail Run (Quantico) 2:13:00 [3] * 10.0 mi (13:18 / mi) | ||
| shoes: Salomom XT Wings 10 | ||
| Had to meet Jim at 8 AM to discuss the timing procedures for the 12 hour bike race in 2 weeks, so plan was to run the bike loop.
Excellent experience - good footing, and shaded for about 95% of the loop. I don't know why more people don't run those trails. I was the only one out there on foot. Had a trail map and arrows on the tree to follow, and there were lots of turns. Though I was enjoying myself, It seemed like it took forever, but I think that was because I didn't know what to expect. I didn't take enough liquids with just a 20 oz bottle. I was wishing I had a bit more in the last 15-20 minutes. I did give one of the bikers a bottle of G, and he hit me about 35 minutes in. I would have carried that one otherwise. When I was finishing, a concerned biker asked if I was OK. He wanted to know if I had lost my bike somewhere out there. It was easy to step to the side when a bike came, wide enough in a lot of places not to really have to stop at all. Glad I was done by 11:15 since the humidity was back with some heat, though not as bad as last weekend. For next time, take the topo map.

The signs on the trails at Quantico were high quality, and I liked this one in particular.

| Note | ||
| I felt terrible yesterday after getting about 4x15 minutes of sleep the night before. When I got up, I took another dose of my nighttime meds instead of my morning meds, so no blood pressure pill.
I had an extremely painful neck, and felt woozy by the end of the day. Went home and took my BP and it was 165/110. Two hours after taking my pill it was back into the good zone. At 8, I took 4 advil and a sleeping pill, and I was finally able to fall asleep around 10. Neck is better today, but not totally. Maybe it was the sewing.

| Mowing/Yard (Mow - sideways) 10:00 [1] | ||
| Another bad night of sleep - three in a row. And tonight will be a late night because I procrastinated on making a flag for the PE teacher at school for tomorrow's circus/orchestra performances.
Anyway, I had an eye doctor's appointment today in Rosslyn - prescription changed a step in each eye. Hopefully, the eyes will be less tired when I get the new pair (and a backup pair). I brought clothes to run in afterwards, and even swung by the house on the way to get my trail shoes since I decided Roosevelt Island would work nicely from Rosslyn. Well, you would have to get on the GW Parkway a bit sooner than Rosslyn, and so I ended up at Chain Bridge. I was incapable of considering a change in plans and going to FT Marcy or the park past Peggy instead, so I went back to Rosslyn, and saw the pedestrian overpass, so running over would have worked. But two trips around and no parking flummoxed me because I had just moved from the two hour zone, so I decided chocolate cake sounded better. I stopped at Ft Myer for a frozen chocolate cake (maprunner's version has been on my mind for a while), but all of that frozen section was out of commission. Instead, I bought caramel popcorn (snacked on the way home) and cupcakes (ate one at home - very moist and fresh) instead, and took a nap. Pretty disappointed in myself. Mowed the lawn afterwards. It looks lovely.

| After midnight before I fell asleep last night, and this was after finally taking a sleeping pill. That got me 3.5 hours of sleep. Should have been exhausted, but I was wide awake. Agh!
