O Training race 2:13:49 [3] *** 6.4 km (20:55 / km)
shoes: 8 Orange

Not as good as yesterday, after heading to the wrong control out of the butterfly loop. Happy to finish and be out in the "woods."

Orienteering race (Red) 1:46:42 [3] *** 7.7 km (13:51 / km)
shoes: 8 Orange

Decided on Red since I had come all this way for some orienteering. And with the minimum climb, the length was not an issue. Had planned to carry water since there was none on the course, but I left it at the start by accident. So, I figured I better navigate pretty cleanly so that I wouldn't be out there too long. I think I did pretty well with that plan.

Got a cactus thorn in my left little toe which is very swollen & sore this evening. Also, a quarter size blister on my right heel. A bit of PF pain, as well.

Despite the feet issues, it was a very good day. Even played a little Boggle between events with Boris (King of Boggle), Cristina, and Melissa.

Trail Run 1:30:36 [2] 6.19 mi (14:38 / mi)
shoes: Asics Weebles

10K trail race set by Eric B. Could have gone a couple of minutes faster, but I was the sweep and picked up the trail markers at the same time. Liked Eric's system of clothes pinning the streamers on instead of knotting them on. Made getting them off the cacti much easier.

Dinner with Cristina, Melissa, Kat, Boris and Eric after.

O Training 1:07:47 [0] *** 3.0 mi (22:36 / mi)
shoes: 8 Orange

More concerned with the cactus thingees in my legs then where I was supposed to be going, and with only streamers out, I wasn't doing well. So, I bailed after 3.5 controls and practiced my "bailing out" technique. Arizona weather not so Arizona like, but I had a good time, and I was happy to be out.

O Training (Arthur Pack Regional Park) 1:10:06 [0] *** 4.44 mi (15:47 / mi)
shoes: 8 Orange

Large lunch with Cristina and Boris. Happy that I don't tend to toss my cookies...

Easier map. Love those big cactus with the big out stretched arms which I have no inclination to run into, and which also serve as good navigational aids. A little ticked that I finished slightly behind DF (sorry DF, if you are reading this). :) Very windy, but conditions a bit better then the morning session.
