Walking 12:00 [1] 0.6 mi (20:00 / mi)

Franken walked from the parking lot at work to the front of the building to access my office through my alternate entrance. Did the reverse when I left at lunchtime. Foot does not seem to be aggravated from that.

Swimming 45:59 [1] 1.83 km (25:08 / km)

x 13 x x 29 x 25 x x x (x = 250 yards, time = rest time between)
Same time as Tuesday but with less rest = yeah! Very satisfied with this effort.

Trying to decide whether I can ride my bike to my doctor's appointment in the morning. It is 10 miles, all on rail trail except 1 mile on Shreve Road to Lee Highway, and the last half mile on Lee Hgwy (sidewalk for sure) and then into the doctor's office on two side roads. I am most concerned about Shreve Road after leaving the W&OD. I can't tell from the street view if there is a path alongside or not, and I would not feel comfortable riding in the street. There is sidewalk for a good bit of it. Think there might be an alternate to the road, so I am 50/50 for giving it a try.

I got a different night splint to try, the sock type, and I was able to keep it on all night last night. The night before I ripped it off some time in the middle of the night. Other styles haven't even lasted a couple of hours.

It may have helped today. Less pain this morning, even considering the lawn mowing last evening.

Note

I am trying to alternate days, swimming with biking, so that I don't get too bored with either. Also, I am trying move strongly through the water, and my arms are tired from that.

Biking 34:30 [1] 6.2 mi (5:34 / mi)

Felt like the wind was with me today both ways. Beautiful day for a ride home from work. Thought I would have to walk up the hill, but I toughed it out. Speed going up the hill dropped to 4.9 mph at times, but I did not walk! And, did I mention that it was a beautiful day to be outside?! Well, it was!

Biking 32:30 [1] 6.85 mi (4:45 / mi)

Beautiful day for a ride into work. Felt like the wind was at my back.

Biking 28:14 [1] 5.72 mi (4:56 / mi) +16m 4:54 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Rode into work, picked something up, and then

Biking 27:59 [1] 5.31 mi (5:16 / mi) +24m 5:12 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

rode back home.

Biking 10:00 [1] 1.6 mi (6:15 / mi) +34m 5:52 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Had to stop and adjust the loose left cleat, so I started a new session to go up the hill. Did not have to walk any of the hill. Yeah! A little extra recovery loop around the block after I stopped the watch. A very pleasurable end to the ride.

Event: QOC Jug Bay

5 PM

Swimming 31:50 [1] 1.19 km (26:45 / km)

Meant to swim this morning, but after messing with map printing until after midnight, I couldn't drag myself out of bed at 6:30, not even to knock on the window to shoo away the woodpecker pecking, the damn pecker!

Wouldn't have swam this evening either, but after finding two ticks on me, and I didn't even go out into the woods, I decided the only thing to do was to drown any others that may be lurking.

52 laps, 50 with no rest 620 618 605 605 554
Started another 10 but decided that I had enough.

QOC event went well, with a great turnout - 131 starts, about 190 people. Lovely day to sit in the shade next to the water, with a gentle breeze later in the day. Up the field a couple of times. Foot hurts.
