Orienteering (Rosaryville) 2:22:00 [1] *** 7.0 mi (20:17 / mi) +118m 19:17 / mi

Nothing like having a plan to meet some friends for a bit of orienteering to get one out of bed, and therefore out of the house as well...

Time runs together, but I think this training was from two summers ago... when my foot was in a cast/boot. Amy set the streamers, then and now. My plan was also drawn up by Amy, because of that whole "I don't like to plan" thing. Unfortunately, before I got done the little loop north of the start, the highlighter had worn off, and I ended up doing the big loop in the non-optimal counter-clockwise order. Non-optimal because some of the trails were harder to find from that direction...

People ask why we don't orienteer in the summer in this area, and going out at Rosaryville is a perfect example of why - massive amounts of poison ivy, spider webs, though I only got one in the face, and hard to find trails covered in grass. Despite that, it was fun to be out in the woods, albeit on lots of trails.

Beforehand, Amy informed me that there was a snake skin and a toad in the restroom, so I crawled into the the corner of the last stall to get a picture.

Getting ready to go out...I commanded that no one should be looking down, and before I could explain, well, Mary looked down.

What I was getting at was I wanted a picture without people casting their eyes down, and we succeeded!

Not sure which one I liked best, so here is another good shot. Left to right - Valerie, John, Amy, and Mary.

A turtle sighted from 35 to the Finish, which I did cross country, just to be off of the road.

And some mushrooms, no idea friend or foe, in the same area.
