Bit disappointed today - nothing major but just feel off the pace! Made one small mistake and two or three scrappy controls so could have caught a bit of time there - not enough! Found it physical today, and definitely felt having a kinda crap sleep and a week of work catching up!
Bit frustrated at how much of an impact work is having on my training and racing! Not anything I'm not aware of but just gets me down sometimes that I feel so physically spent all the time but am not actually managing enough quality training and decent rest which really shows at races like today!

Really pleased with my run... a few mins off the pace but considering it was all just a running race I was happy to be 1min ish behind Kim and about 2 behind Ais.
Ive had terrible preparation in the last couple of weeks feeling over worked and run down, followed by a panic rush drive to try and make it on time which I spent a chunk of on the phone to a client who is having a personal struggle at the moment... and this tends to wind me up a bit mentally sometimes so it was very lucky and nice that I was able to put all this crap aside in the start blocks... take a few deep breaths and get on and focus on the race and find a bit of flow. Im proud of myself and I hope it just keeps improving from here!

This was a painfully frustrating run and that takes a bit on a sunny sheffield evening!
One lady came along who decided to walk the whole time so I just kept having to run walk/ sprint back and forth trying to give the runners a good session without leaving her behind... she’s always late... always asks to finish early, has never run and tonight I learnt (15mins into the run) that she has asthma and doesn’t carry her inhaler so it was stressful and a frustrating session

Feeling a lot better today!
Went out with Ais this evening to do a little O training seeing as we can and still be in daylight till 8pm woo hoo!! Which was actually very good because towards the end I realised I’d taken a flat headtorch out!!

Was a 1:2500 map so took a little getting use to the scale and I balled up the first half of the first side of the maps, then started to fall into a rhythm! Realised Ais must have made a mistake too as I was on a slightly shorter map but faffed around some controls for a bit and still got into the finish first!

Was losing confidence for JK to begin with but second map was much smoother so I think I just need to do a bit of reading up and make sure I take the first few controls a bit slower to get the head in the game when a bit rusty/locked onfrom work!

Had planned to try and get out and do a bit of O on the weekend but still wasnt feeling it over the weekend so decided to make the most of some cancellations and just do an old prologue map this morning.
Didnt feel amazing - couldnt really push the pace and so much snot everywhere and when i finished my face looked like a salt mine.... but felt well enough to get round and get the HR up so hopefully on the up and will just take it easy the rest of the week in the hope to feel good for the JK!

Probably good for me I’ve been exhausted this week and grumpy tired today - even had to have a little nap in shop!! So good to sort of have a forced easier day!

Monday was already a fail though as my gears aren’t working properly and the chain wasn’t changing then just fell off so I bailed out of safety concerns at hunters bar and went home for the car!! None the less I managed to sit on the bike mon... hopefully more successful the rest of the week!!

Really fun course! Struggled to get any speed just had no energy and tired legs! Kind of got a rhythm then would lose it up a hill then get it again!

Only made one real mistake but definitely could have taken some better route choices but tbf that was what was so good about this race - almost every leg had two really hard to chose between choices which I still can’t make my mind up about some of them going over the map now!!

Legs tired and definitely feeling a bit coldy still today - lots of sneezing and sniffing!

Lovely epic bday run with Ais, Alice and Lova!

Ais devised a route of porter > lady cannings > burbage > stannage > redmires > rivelin > fullwood and then I made her go back down endcliffe to mine!

Weather was average but we had alot of fun anyway! I was absolutely dragged up Porter and Lady Cannings - I think I felt the worse I had felt all week post holiday from hell and straight back into a full on week of work and I slept so badly after SHAFF night run, and just spent the entire way up Porter snot rocketing the remnants of my cold out! But found a second wind from Stannage onwards (the downhill part haha) and really enjoyed the second half and was so glad the others were with me to get me up the first half!

Wished on top of Burbage that I hadnt tried out the HOKA shoes... they were so nice and springy at the start and end on the hard trails/roads... but it litterally felt like running on marshmallows in a bog going over Burbage and made what was already hard work, really hard work! Will retire those to just dry Porters I think!

What a great birthday!

(sick)

travel day home - feeling absolutely shattered and on the way to having a cold (cant stop sniffing - hopefully that will be it) not surprised considering I missed pretty much a whole night of sleep before skiing!

Skiing downhill 1:00:00 [2]

Out at Le Tour today - which was amazing!!! Great runs, no ice and blue sky’s and sunshine!!

Skiing downhill 2:00:00 [2]

Some really fun longer reds and blues over lunch and I tried a slalom... think I could be good with a bit of practise hahaha

Skiing downhill 1:00:00 [2]

Would have liked to do some more of the longer pistes after lunch but they shut a chairlift and we got stuck in a queue for a button lift for about 40mins... just carnage, we managed to fit in a go on the snow park and a few more runs down! Was absolutely lovely - gets so quiet on those last runs of the day! I could have kept going till the last lift but jade was really sick of it so time to call it’s quits!!!

Awesome couple of days skiing... despite everything that has gone absolutely wrong about this holiday!! Legs tired! Burnt nose, feeling exhausted! No run tonight just a few beers to round off the trip woop

Skiing downhill 2:00:00 [2]

Chamonix runs out in the sunshine! Absolutely lush!!
Still a lot of calamities on buses but we finally got out there! Got our wrong lift passes swapped for the day and had some beautiful skiing!!
3 PM

Skiing downhill 1:50:00 [2]

Sun went in and we headed over to the connecting lift to the other side of the mountain - this side was all icy and just not much fun to ski - and huge queues to get back across because the lift down on that side was shut due to wind! So we lost about half hour of good ski time but still nice to be out in the mountains and we were pretty tired in the legs by then end! I probably could have done another hour but jade was done!

Lush dusk run up the river and back followed by the most to die for heart attack on a plate fondue ever!

Skiing downhill 2:30:00 [2]

It’s been an absolute crazy nightmare to finally get here! And if I’m honest I was pretty grumpy this morning as it was a white out and my cousin was throwing up all day with a horrendous hangover... so as our 3 days skiingt urned to 2... it then turned to 1.5!! Then we managed to get the wrong lift passes and go to the furthest away lifts... so have infact paid double the price today for 2hrs skiing!
Was absolutely brilliant when we finally did get out though!! Amazing runs... fresh powder and we almost had the slopes completelyto ourself! Only fell over once trying to show off for a photo ha!
It felt like hard work and legs were tired by the end... esp after having to trek up a run when we took a wrong turn on the sweep down to the bottom!!
So looking forward to a full day of it tomorrow!!

Little exploration and head clearing jog around Chamonix... it’s been a chaotic and not particularly pleasant couple of days until we finally got on the slopes about 3pm today - so just needed a little breather run to reset my mind

slept:3.0 (rest day)

Second forced rest day due to horrendous travel difficulties!! We finally arrived in Chamonix about 3pm this afternoon, almost 30hrs after leaving home... after being messed around all night by easy jet!
Absolutely shattered!! But picked up our skis ready to hit the slopes tomorrow!!

(rest day)

Planned to go out in the snow this morning but bailed big time in order to make the one train that seemed to be going out of Sheff to Birm today!! Has been a long ass day of travelling... out at 9:30am... 7pm and still sitting in the departure lounge praying this flight to Geneva leaves!! Hopefully 3days ahead of skiing and no running... we will soon find out!
