Beautiful warm late afternoon paddle with Bart North of the Dam. It was so beautiful. Paddled to water world to see where the climbers climb. I love this new sport. Bailed off my board again trying to practice turns. Keep getting caught up in my leash.
Long Course Event. Much better day. Actually found the first and second check points quickly because I could use a trail. But the rest of the check points were all off trails and more technical for me but i did better today. Spent 30 mins looking for 1 checkpoint but managed to eventually figure out where i was.

Super fun tour of the Hinton bike park. Rode every trail but one. Played on the pump tracks, etc. Wish we had this type of park in Revy. Then settled in to a long drive home.
Morning practice map. Was surprised at how dense the forest was. For me it was not easy to run in. Plus the map was so detailed. But was glad to get to practice and build some confidence.

Middle Distance Race. Terrible race for me. Couldn't find the first check point because there were no trails and no attacking features. Eventually i knew because of pace counting i'd gone to far. Turned around the went back to the start (although i felt lucky i found it). Then tried again and still couldn't find it. Some nice man showed me roughly where it was. Unfortunately i then couldn't find the second checkpoint either. I got really frustrated. Sat in the woods for a while. Then decided to find the trail on the map and see if i could backtrack. Once i found the trail i walked up and down trying to figure out where the major bend was to orientate myself but couldn't find it. Then had to make the hard decision that i was never going to finish it in 2 hours. So i moved on to checkpoint 6 which was on the trail i was on and got the remaining 6 checkpoints. Was pretty upset at the finish. Overall the course was too hard for me. Without trails i was useless. I heard others saying the same which made me feel a bit better. Now in reflection i can say that i found the finish (it was a remote finish in the woods which was not the same as the start) and i learned a lot even if it didn't feel like it at the time.
Ride in Jasper on the 5 lakes trails system. Interesting forest. A lot of punch ups and downs. It is built as a hiking trail so some of the climbs were tough. Was pretty tired by the end.

Ride close to the Rec centre right in Jasper. Enjoyed this trail more than earlier in the day. One long climb and then a fun decent.
Drove to the airport and rode back on the greenbelt trails with Logan.

First River Run. Set in at the boat lunch down from our house. Paddled down the Columbia which was exciting and a bit stressful. It was so tiring and hot in in neoprene.
