Note

Absolutely fantastic week in France! Amazing areas to run on, great weather, good bunch of British people, perfect accommodation and best of all watching the WOC races was fantastic and very inspiring.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Orienteering race 50:04 [3] 4.5 km (11:08 / km) +250m 8:42 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Bit scrappy to the first control as usual and then big mistake on two, it was a contouring leg and I was far too high. Then a few mistakes as the course went on but there were a few really good controls. number seven was a crucial leg and it was similar to the men's middle final. Very pleased with my route choice and execution for this leg.

shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Orienteering race 43:33 [3] 4.5 km (9:41 / km) +90m 8:48 / km

Best run of the week!!

Absolutely refused to get lost today and also mess up the first control.

Therefore I held back a notch and got the orienteering right, which worked very well. Only mistakes were in the circle when I had a clear attackpoint, just couldn't see the flag so had to search for a bit.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Orienteering race 1:29:20 [3] 9.0 km (9:56 / km) +340m 8:21 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Would like to say I started well, but made a 180 degree error out of the start flag, great. After I realised and turned around I restarted from the start flag at start time plus 2 minutes!

The next few controls were really good and the forest in this section was the nicest of the week. Then there was a very long leg which I couldn't find the best route and so just went straight which was awful - very steep and rocky.

Then a bit later on Marc Seralonga caught me up and I refused to stick behind him so led us both until near the end, which restored some of my confidence.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Orienteering race 54:00 [3] 4.0 km (13:30 / km) +180m 11:01 / km

Horrible area today, but I actually really enjoyed it.

Got completely lost to control one (again!) but then started to run well after that. People lost a lot of time today so luckily my mistake to number one wasn't too significant as I manged to flukily find the control.

Swimming 30:00 [3]

Very hot day so we went swimming by this beautiful lake near Aix-les-bains.
I swam around for a bit then swam out to this buoy.

Orienteering 1:22:53 [3] 8.0 km (10:22 / km) +330m 8:35 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Better race today. Messed up one again, spiked two, then got completely lost on number 3. Got back into it after that and started reading the terrain better and flowing more.

Good stretch out across the open section and the views were amazing.
Then back into the forest again I was reading the contours and spiked a few more controls.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Ran to the start with Alex, didn't feel very siked..

Orienteering race 1:33:20 [3] 8.0 km (11:40 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Oroc 280

Aweful race, lost a lot of time throughout the course, head just wasn't in it and struggled to read the map. Forgot to clear at the start so dibber ran out of space 3 controls from the end so I had to spike punch. Massive faff trying to reinstate as it had all my controls from the Scottish and used that finish time. Sorted in the end but still had an aweful run which I will be dropping.

Even though I did bad I strangely enjoyed it. Some guy followed me from the first control right to the finish - including waiting for me when I stopped for a wee!!
