XC Skiing 1:23:04 [2] 10.95 km (7:35 / km) +270m 6:45 / km

And another day of xc-skiing with Martin, Georg and Lena. Conditions were a lot worse than the last times, wet snow and a bit ruined tracks - still fun to ski, but not as nice as on a sunny winterday like last monday.
Was a bit tired from the o-training last night and my lower ab muscles were very sore and hurt. Double pooling hurt a bit, kicking a lot more but still tolerable and controlling the ski on downhills and when the track was bad was really hurtful. After first the first round I decided that I wouldn't want to do the steep downhill in the end again cause that really hurt. So just a little bit out and back as the second part.

Orienteering training 41:32 [3] **** 2.97 km (13:59 / km) +25m 13:26 / km

Nice night o-training near Frankfurt from Katrin. More difficult than expected and I was orienteering like absolut crap, especially in the beginning. No sense of direction or distance :(
Details:
1) First confusion was, that the start was somewhere else than marked on the map (sensible because of the rain, but it took me actually until the 3. run to figure out why I always was confused at the start)
3) Left the path at the right place, but in the wrong direction. Never had any idea for what I was looking and was constantly confused by what I was seeing. Searched for the control for 9 min.
4) Left 3 in the wrong direction again, corrected easily on the path. Left the path in the right direction to the control, but missed it anyway because i had no sense of distance. Had to search for 2 min. then.
8) Went a bit too far left (no sense of direction and distance again), still found the control relatively fast cause another runner was there. 15s
9) Misinterpreted the vegetation, thought I was already at the vegetation border, left the path to soon and of course missed the control. 1:45 search afterwards.
12) Again no sense of distance. Started searching for the control to soon, then chickened out to the path. 1:30
14:30 mistakes on 3km, wow :(

Orienteering training 28:40 [4] **** 2.49 km (11:31 / km) +27m 10:55 / km
spiked:6/11c shoes: Nike Air Pegasus+

And the second one. Orienteering is getting better, but still too many mistakes and one rather big one.
Details:
Good run until 7, and then:
8) Was on the right run, then suddenly turned 90 degrees (haven't even realized it happening in the forest), ended up on a path, thought I was one farther north, run to the crossing, nothing fits - big confusion. Finally figured where I am and what must have happened, run back the path, into the forest at the right place, but a slightly wrong direction, missed the control again, realized it when I hit the next path. Back and finally at the control on the 3th attempt. 6 min
10) Bit out of direction again. 30s
6:30s mistakes - better than the first one, but still too much...

Orienteering training 19:50 [4] **** 2.04 km (9:43 / km) +17m 9:20 / km
spiked:6/9c shoes: Nike Air Pegasus+

The last one. Feeling better with each one, so maybe after 3 or so more I'd actually felt like I'm able to do night-o ;)
Details:
3) Bit out of direction, realized it at the meadow. 40s

Tuesday o-training at the campus. Legs tired from the last 3 days, not really hurting but just feeling out of energy - no wonder...
Tried to concentrate on still running continously and having a good flow from control to control. Was sometimes a bit behind in the beginning, but then it worked fine.

XC Skiing 1:28:34 [2] 13.39 km (6:37 / km) +325m 5:54 / km

Another day of crosscountry skiing with Georg.
The weather report says it will rain up in the Nord-Schwarzwald in the middle of the week, which will probably finally destroy what little is left of the snow and the last avaiable xc-skiing tracks there. So I decided to take the chance to ski while I get it and took the afternoon of (more or less, I'm working now instead of earlier - sometimes I love my job for making these things possible).
2 times the Schwarzkopf-Loipe (red track), last 3km or so were very hard, I could feel the 2 long sport days I had at the weekend. But tried to keep the speed up and not slow down - second round was only 35s slower than the first one, seems I succeded in it ;)
Another nice, sunny afternoon in what little bit of winter we have this year :)
